you need to update you info. Saudi arabia has offered a cheap oil to India with one condition is to overdraw from the Gas pipeline project with Iran.

Thats not really the truth, unfortunately, and that article's headline is misleading.

"in July 2012 India was importing 202,000 barrels of oil per day. This represents a 40% reduction compared with the same period last year, which has caused considerable problems for India’s petrochemical company and Indian oil refineries."

India sold out to US and its alies. Iran shouldnt have had supported India when it needed the most in 1994, but then again it was a good test if India is a friend - it isnt.

I m not denying that there has been reduction in oil import from Iran but thats becoz the sanctions have made it difficult to pay for Iranian oil

But what u r ignoring here is that earlier it was China who was the biggest importer of Iranian oil but after sanctions it has been replaced by India

Now by ur logic even China has sold out to west if i m not wrong...

I dont see the problem - 45% is paid in rupees to Indian bank, the rest could be paid in gold or hard currency, or even simpler solution - transfer payments to Parsian bank in India, easy.

Oh wait, there is no Parsian bank in India, because India denied Iranian bank opening branch in India due to US pressure.

China settled payment issues with Iran in March, and increasing oil imports by 30% every month since then, now hitting the record levels, so your info is outdated.

India imported more than China for a few months only, and after that India cut down imports for the full year for at least 11% due to US pressure, and planning more cuts.
