Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told President Pranab Mukherjee that Israel expects India to change its stand towards Palestine.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his unhappiness with India’s “lenience” towards Palestine.

In a state lunch hosted by Mr. Netanyahu at King David hotel in Jerusalem on Thursday, he told Pranab Mukherjee that Israel expects India to change its stand towards Palestine, according to a person who was present at the lunch.

“The Israelis want India to end its pro-Palestine policy. They expect a decisive shift in India’s approach towards the issue under (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi,” said the person, who did not want to be named.

“The Israelis are not happy that he (Mr. Mukherjee) went to and stayed overnight at Palestine. The Palestinians are not happy that we have good relationship with Israel. But overall, the president has re-emphasised India’s Israel-Palestine policy, that it’s hyphenated,” said the person.

Mr. Mukherjee skipped the Palestinian issue in his Knesset speech on Wednesday. The focus of his speech was India’s economic and technological cooperation with Israel, while in Palestine and Jordan he said New Delhi remained committed to the Palestinian cause.

Mr. Netanyahu, on the other side, slammed the “Islamist radicals”, and drew parallels between India and Israel as victims of Islamist terror in his Knesset speech. He referred to Mr. Modi as “dear friend” twice in his speech, and said he speaks to the Mr. Modi “quite often”.

But diplomatic sources said a paradigm shift in India’s foreign policy is practically impossible. “Israel is important for us, for economic and technological cooperation, for critical defence supplies. But we don’t have any ideological association with Israel,” a diplomat told The Hindu, who also requested anonymity.

Asked what India is getting in return for supporting Palestine from a realistic point of view, the official said: “Most countries in the world support the Palestinian statehood. That’s a principled position in international diplomacy. Changing that would malign our image. Also, it’s a sensitive issue at home. We can’t afford to alienate sections of our population over this issue.”

India is colonial of British empire. And now you still are :D

Israel has sugar daddy US. As if Israel will doom w/o India?

Still, India is Israelis biggest defence importer. And several companies within Israel will lobby against such a thing like cutting defence ties.

And India is at a phase when it's opening up its defence industry, so they better make as much money as possible, while they have the chance.

India is a backward poor technology countries. From tools, weapon and system. All need import. Poor thing :D

Several technologies it cant readily buy off the shelf, India is producing. Some of which Israel dont even have. If the same mind set is there with other things, with the developers, users, etc. working in union, you wouldnt see several imported items.

None of these are, 'Rafale', in their category, but it's doing far better for Indian industry in the long run.

That is too little for India who claim to be a super power. Can you made a working UCAV?

Can you made a 100% made in India destroyer or Frigate with no foreign import subsystem?

No, Indian defence industy isnt at that level, yet. But it will. You're a senior member, you should know this. India doesnt even have the R&D budget to do all this. DRDO R&D budget right now is only $1 billion, to make everything from tanks, radars, jet fights to nuclear subs, it's SLBMs, long range ballistic missiles. For what it works with, it does a decent job, and does it out of an industry what's less sophisticated and developed as others. India is however opening this sector to foreign investment, and more importantly, it's own private firms like the TATAs, Reliences, L&Ts, etc. Right now the defence sector is area monopolized by incompetent public sector.

lolwa. You failed again. QC-280 engines used in Type 52D destroyers are a copy of Ukrainian engines( under licence from Ukraine). HHQ-9 is also just another copy of S-300 same like many othet equipments Chinese use. So whom are you kidding about your 'Indigenous Technology'? hahahaha

Another sourgrape comment from India. We can make as many as we want. There is nothing Ukraine can do about it. Same as HQ-9. As if Russian can stop us competing with their S-300 for Turkey missile bid which we won them fair and square which proves our HQ-9 is better than their S-300.

Can India make as many as you want? Indian can't. They need to beg and paid. That is the different from between China and India. Nobody can stop China and nothing they can do to stop our military advancement becos we make everything ourselves.

Our World class PL-45 beat US M-109 and British SPH for Kuwait bid and Saudi has purchase it too and the better news is PL-45 is second rated for PLA. We reserve the best PL-05 for PLA service. India has no world class military product that can export and be proud of. :D

 another sourgrape. You feel inferior that I expose india impotency. If Israel ask india bend down , india must do it too. Becos india can't make anything.

Wrong actually nowadays there more sellers in arms market than buyers , Countries are literally forced to close factories as they don't have any orders . Saudi Arabia , India etc are very few countries who have big orders and money to pay for them and compare them with countries supplying weapon systems.
