Israel to sell F-16As with upgrade package

Normally fierce rivals, Elbit Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries are co-operating on an upgrade package for elderly Lockheed Martin F-16As.

Israel retired its "Netz" fighters earlier this year and is now looking to sell the 40-strong inventory, which would be extensively modernised by the partners.

No details of the enhancements has been revealed, but the Israeli air force previously upgraded of its F-16C/Ds under the "Barak 2020" initiative.

The aircraft gained an avionics and mission system enhancement, as well as structural strengthening.

Modifications will begin only when a customer has signed for the aircraft.

The F-16As have been in Israeli service since 1980, but most recently have been employed as aggressor aircraft for training missions.

Pakistan and Israel should move towards normalizing their relationship. There is no tangible reason why Israel and Pakistan can't be closer, barring the emotionally retarded crowd. It's the 21st century, if Pakistan can have relationship with India, and Israel can have the same with Egypt, there is no reason why nations who have not fought with each other cannot have the same.

I ain't got no quarrel with the Israelis. I have issues with Israeli policies, any sane person would. Does that mean I hate every single Israeli? Nope. And to call every single Israeli unclean is unjust and cruel.

Also please tell me why we should not have relationship with Israel while you enjoy full and close relationship with India? Where does your pity go for Kashmiri Muslims? Why are you guys quiet on the massacre of Kashmiri and other Indian Muslims by the butcher of Gujurat? You want us Pakistanis to follow your example on some countries you have issues with but you are quiet on issues that are sensitive to the Muslims of the subcontinent.

There is nothing wrong with having relationship with Israel if the Palestinian issue is sorted out with a two state solution. I thought this was always the stance of Pakistan, or have I been misled?

There is nothing wrong with having relationship with Israel if the Palestinian issue is sorted out with a two state solution. I thought this was always the stance of Pakistan, or have I been misled?

Brother Palestine issue is not going to solve ... cant you say direct involvement of Israel in Syria ... mark my words ... Israelis are not nice people. I met some trekkers in Nepal on the Annapurna trek. They way they treated the Nepalis, trust me in Pakistan they would get shot. I even has to stand up for the Nepal waiter. When I found out they were Israeli I hated them.
