Israel will lease unmanned aerial vehicles to Greece, in the first agreement reached between the two countries’ defense ministries.

The Heron UAVs, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd., will be used primarily for border defense, the Israeli defense ministry said. The three-year lease agreement includes an option to purchase the system after the end of the period.

Israel and Greece have developed their ties recently, especially in cooperation over natural gas assets in the eastern Mediterranean, where tensions have increased as Turkey also looks to build its presence.

. . .
The greeks cannot afford drones so they are resorting to leasing :omghaha:

That's what I was thinking too

Surely this must be the first time someone leased a drone.

It would be a shame if someone were to shoot them down lmao :lol:

Turkey isn't doing any better either with the Turkish lira tanking and the country on the brink of default. Don't worry about the greeks or, maybe worry about them pressing the button next them they get a lock

You are being notoriously rookie.

First of all, why are you bringing in Turkey into this discussion? Did I mention Turkey?
Secondly, Greek and Turkish aircraft engage in dogfights all the time. They practise their skills and are keeping themselves sharp.
Thirdly, why are you worried about Greece? Your home country is one of the greatest receivers of aid from the EU and your country of residence is not in the EU. You are not paying the bill.

So stop being ridiculous. Thank you.

With the impact of Covid-19, they will probably have to cancel the leasing agreement as well.

My home country doesn't get aid, sorry, youareterribly confused. As a refugee in the EU you shouldn't worry about an EU citizen exercising his free right to travel across the Union.

Call it whatever you want, but Romania receives more than €3 billion a year from the EU. The money is part of the EU's ambition to develop the less developed EU countries.

Those are structural funds, not aid.It helps EE countries allign themselves to EU policies, all EU countries get them....in the 80s 90s countries like Spain benefited from them, etc.

Nope....structural funds are different. For example, if a country relies on coal for energy but EU rules forbid coal because of pollution, they will give you funds to shut coal mines down and build alternative energy supplies. Etc.,etc

But we all know that is not the case with Romania and the rest. It might not seem like aid for the receiver, but it sure as hells feels like aid in the donor countries. A general discussion in the wealthy Northern European countries is regarding why we are delivering aid to these countries, while we have to cut down on our own welfare.

What countries exactly? 18 of the 27 EU countries are net financial receivers. If you want an economic union you have to stabilise that whole union financially or to give them a chance to compete.I won't even go in to the fact that most of the money go to EU multinationals operating there.

If you build a motorway in here, the costs are sky high due to EU regulations, as beaver tunnels, etc...so....

If the Greeks shoot down a Turkish plane I hope Turkey flattens athens.

I reported that off-topic post, I can't believe my eyes that it is removed. There is improvement in moderation.

Whatever has Greece you will always have people mentioning Turkiye every time. People are obessed with Turkey too much.

I cant wait to see Greeks show off their rented toys to the Turks.

A lot of the times Turks dont bother with Greece as they better things to do. This whole east med issue could have been avoided of not for Greece's greed.
