Several quick things:

1. There was always a Jewish presence in the region.
2. Beginning in 1906 under the Ottoman Empire and continuing under the British Mandate, Jews were allowed to legally immigrate to the region.
3. Jews purchased the land in question.

As a result of a historic Jewish presence and legal immigration/legal landowners, by the time the UN was charged with developing a solution to bring the territory to sovereignty, it needed to respect the equal right of self-determination of both the region's Arab and Jewish population.

Israel considers west bank and Gaza to be the land of their ancestors , having their roots there. Hence they would hold on to that land till the end of the world. The pragmatic solution would be to demarcate a territory within the territories currently under Israeli control where a separate Palestinian state with all characteristics of a state not just the token jurisdiction of the current Palestinian Authority can be applied.

Well said.At least talking and communicating would be good. I am sure both parties could come to an agreement similar to the one you are suggesting. Both parties have a right to exist. By supressing one side doesnt help

Agree , The Palestinian people have genuine aspirations ...actually if we go by history , its not just Muslims , Palestinian Christians have had a prominent role in the movement too and Arafat correctly portrayed the movement as a "struggle for identity " .

However , taking a tough line against Zionists will antagonize more than reconciliate . If Wahhabbi ideologies of Saudi Arabia , Iran's clerics are tolerated and allowed to coexist , so should the Israel movement and the Zionist ideology.

Israel too has its rights to exist , and the way forward is peaceful co-existance .
