This thread is not aimed at empty criticism with no aim.

But I am starting to wonder where is ISPR. It seems to have vanished off the national discourse since the new DG sahb took over.

ISPR had turned into a stellar oganization with a voice of reason which echoed with all the voices of the nation.

ISPR not only countered terrorism under DG Asim Bajwa's in Gen Raheel's Cabinet.

But also countered totally ridiculous, unfounded anti national propogandas and psychological mind games enemy imposed upon us. Such as missing persons, poison of Hamid Mir, India's threats and adventurism, Kashmir, PTM lar o bar BS etc etc. Under DG Asif Ghafoor in Gen Q J Bajwa's team.

Gen Asif Ghafoor did an absolutely amazing job of winning people's hearts and minds and bridging the great divide that was ever increasing and capitalized by the enemies foreign and domestic.

ISPR is a very, very important organization. Because Christine Fair(I think, if someone can help me find exact quote) said something along the lines that 'it is Pakistan's Army that is holding together Pakistan's social fabric'.

With the appointment of the new DG Babr Iftikhar. ISPR seems to be going through a dormant/latent phase. But he joined only in February so it has been around 5 months. So he could still be finishing some courses/on the job training idk.

But ISPR vanishing like this has left me at least wanting for it's return. I say this because Pakistan has 0, ZERO, NONE, NADA professional media platforms where the state of the country can be discussed without sensationalism, lies or downright paindoo attitude.

Au contraire, watching Gen Asif Ghafoor conduct his detailed, thorough press conferences made me feel like I am watching Al-Jazeera Inside Story. Which is a show I'll admit I like because it provides a balanced, well thought out analysis and has very professional analysts/academia well versed in natsec/economy/geo politics/foreign policy etc etc. Not just a bunch of guys sitting on a show defending the failures of their political parties with whatever lies or excuses they can think of.

ISPR is a wonderful tool in Pakistan's especially Pakistan Army's toolkit. We worked too hard to sharpen it. We shouldn't simply let it fade away.

I agree, Pakistani media is useless.

there isnt anything wrong if they cant speak english. can brits speak urdu ? no. there is no shame in it. english is not our local language and people generally dont talk with each other in english. there shouldnt be any obsession with english as our neighbours in the east have. many great nations dont care about english. they are proud of their own language. the next likely super power is doing very fine without english. i have met with chinese engineers and doctors. many of them highly professional but cant speak more then a few words in english.

i think ISPR has adopted more professional approach. speak less and to the point. let your team do the war on social media. the DG should give them the direction. i am sure they must have many hired experts for media warfare. its not the level of DG ISPR to have an argument with classless people like sana bucha on social media or congratulating usman khawaja on his batting against indian team.

Ghafoor was tweeting a lot but nothing was happening, there is nothing to show - and eventually his handle got overwhelmed by the counter narratives. Maybe it is an effective tool to boost morale at home but in terms of achieving Pakistani objectives, ISPR has only made matters worse and caused India to adopt similar practices which ultimately have lead to a deeper stalemate with no effective way out other than to reduce such practices - which is what we are witnessing now.

Perhaps you have forgotten, it was your Military leadership that accepted the defeated in INFOWAR with Pakistan. In an interview your air chief accepted that Military victory was lost due to poor InfoWar....see his interview post Feb 27

Watch Orya Maqbool Jan and Dr. Shahid Masood, apparently they have the ears of Imran Khan and PTI as well.

Rest like Hamid Mir and Mubasher Lucman should be avoided. I am sure there are some good ones in there too.

In war ,it is never enough. Even if they hired media, it is not working out. While bhartis are churning out propaganda after propaganda, there is deep deep silence from ISPR and Bajwa. We desperately need a duo like Raheel Sharif and Ghafoor.

I agree with OPs criticism that it seem like this great institution is now dumb and has lost its voice at the time we need it the most.
