Pakistan says it shot down Indian drone near LoC

The Pakistani military said it shot down an Indian spy drone on Wednesday in Kashmir, in a new sign of the decades-old tension between the nuclear-armed rivals in the disputed region.

Industry experts said the small, unarmed model was sold commercially for aerial filming and would contain no secret military technology.

"An Indian spy drone was shot down by Pakistani troops which intruded into Pakistan along (the Line of Control) near Bhimber today. The spy drone is used for aerial photography," a statement from the Pakistani military said.

The Indian military was not available for comment.

Bhimber is in Kashmir, the Himalayan region claimed by both Pakistan and India. The two sides regularly exchange fire along Kashmir's heavily-militarised Line of Control.

A photo supplied by the Pakistani military appeared to show a Chinese-made DJI Phantom 3, said Huw Williams, the Unmanned Systems Editor at IHS Jane's International Defence Review.

"Due to its limited operating range - about two km - if the Indian military is using the system it would most likely be for close reconnaissance or security work," Williams said.

"Our Middle East editor believes that Islamic State are using similar systems."

Pakistan is plagued by a Taliban insurgency that has killed hundreds of thousands of civilians. It has fought three wars against India since the two nations became separate in 1947.

Since 2004, the United States has conducted 419 drone strikes in Pakistan, targeting suspected members of the Taliban and al Qaeda. The missiles have killed thousands of suspected militants and hundreds of civilians, according to media reports collated by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.

Pakistan often protests that the U.S. strikes are an infringement of its national sovereignty and has been pushing for its own lethal drones.

In March, the Pakistani military announced it had test-fired its own drone equipped with a laser-guided missile. Analysts said the video showed a drone similar to models produced by Pakistan's close ally China.

By going through this whole thread i can wholeheartedly say that the indian members here even the senior ones are dense as fu*k. I do not know what kind of patriotic drug they're on but its very effective to make them behave like this.

An eagle had brought down a similar drone when it entered its territory.

Drones can be shot down by throwing stones.

Please cross reference this with the image posted in OP. They look nothing similar, except that both are quadcopters.

Well that will be done through a thorough investigation, which will confirm the Identity of the Indian drone...where Indian bought it from? What video and imagery it has captured? what is it doing? India uses such drone for CT ops in India, how it came in pakistan? what was it spying on? what border positions? false flag evidence collection? Whether its the Indian DRDO Netra or some third party drone used to cover up.

There are lots of ifs and unknowns. Lets c.:pop:

You already have 8 negative ratings. What difference will another make ?? :D
Let them justify it or else we know negative ratings are always there avenue to went out personal vendetta and anger.

DRDO Netra

The drone is designed to be used in hostage situations, border infiltration monitoring, law enforcement operations, search and rescue operations, disaster management and aerial photography. It can also be used in naxal-affected districts, in border locations across India for surveillance, and for anti-terrorist and counter-insurgency operations in dense forested areas, where it can use its camera payloads to track human activity. It can also operate in urban quarters, in situations similar to that of the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

This link, provides to show, one thing cover up or, How can poor Indian villagers in border areas can ever buy a small drone worth even $2500 and fly over Pakistani border just for fun? It surely belongs to some aerial filming either to Indian Military, Indian police, or Indian govt agencies.

The shot of Indian drone at Bimber sector, details provided by Pakistan Military, confirms, poor Indian villagers, or teenagers would not be flying aerial photography drones on border areas of high tension along Pakistan areas, or ur Indian baniya sense believe it to be an Indian villager?

Either its a Drdo Netra or third party drone bought to do serious spy video and image photography of Pakistan locations, border movements, and logistic support, which is to any international observer or UN regulations is a serious territorial violation of any country not just Pakistan...this sh*t is getting worse than anyone thought.

Bhimbar is atleast a 50 Km from the LOC. The Chinese Drone "shot down" has a range of 2 KM. So according to the ISPR Indians flew and controlled this drone from inside the Pakistani territory  , gross incompetence on the part of your Army if you are letting Indians to ingress in your territory and then fly the drone from there ! Either that or the ISPR folks forgot to do their homework. I ll go with the later. :disagree:

Finally a sane indian! I agree with your argument. ISPR has F up by not providing proper details and not researching before posting something like this. But the reason i and my fellow pakistani members here got angry about was not that we might be wrong, it was the lack of rational thinking from the indian side. If you go through the whole thread like i did you will find out that your countrymen havent given a single good argument like the one you have given and instead made shitty arguments instead(Example, It was our drone operated by police which isnt even deployed there.). IF they only stopped to think, this thread wouldnt be as derailed as it is now.

Nah they paid you almost 65 billion dollars in aid too.. Is that why your cheerleading lil lady
yeah 65 billion dollars comes to their NGO's which are independent Mostly to do activities against Indian Interest Not to Govt of india

As For 65 billion $ in 68 years (1947-2015) is very small amount for country vast like India that it Make some difference
Govt of India Spends on Poor Welfare Schemes ten times Higher than this Amount for Every Single Budget year :lol::lol:
