The Supreme Court today released the full text of its order that dismissed review petition of war criminal Mir Quasem Ali, paving way for the government to proceed with his execution.

The 29-page verdict was released after its five judges including Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha signed it, Sabbir Faiz, deputy registrar of the High Court division of Supreme Court, told The Daily Star.

Earlier in the morning, the apex court dismissed the review petition and reaffirmed the death sentence of the Jamaat-e-Islami leader.

Sabbir Faiz also said the judgment will now be sent to the international crimes tribunal.

The tribunal will communicate the judgment to the jail authority, home ministry and the district magistrate’s office for doing the necessary procedure, he added.
