We don't need Afghanistan, Afghanistan needs us. We can access Central Asia very easily through Turkmenistan and China and this should be the way forward once CPEC road network is fully operational in the next 3-4 years. Afghanistan hardly have any infrastructure network to become a transit route and to add that highly insecure land locked country so one has to think twice before considering Afghanistan as a reliable route. So Afghan and Indians can have their heroin/drugs trade via Chahbhar
