Islamabad - Pakistan and India Friday extended agreements for five years on pre-notification of flight tests of ballistic missiles, besides reducing the risk from accidents relating to nuclear weapons.
The Seventh Round of Expert Level Talks on Nuclear Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) held in New Delhi, focusing on review of implementation and strengthening of existing CBMSs in the framework of the Lahore Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as well as possibilities for mutually acceptable additional CBMs.
A statement issued by the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Islamabad states that Foreign Additional Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry led the Pakistani delegation while the Indian delegation was led by Disarmament and International Security Affairs Joint Secretary DB Venkatesh Varma. The two sides will report progress made in the talks to their foreign secretaries. The talks were held in pursuant to the agreement between the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan during their meeting on September 8, 2012.
