It is common knowledge that part of the US agenda is to have the ISI under control of a submissive Pakistani govt.

PPPP govt. led by Gilani and Zardari have been working on this agenda from day one and now the current statement below by the Foreign office is another evidence of their plans against the ISI.

“The government of Pakistan has taken a firm decision to strongly contest the suit filed against the ISI, its present and past directors general,” the foreign ministry said.

According to experts in the link above:

Experts say such cases rarely succeed beyond being symbolic. Many international defendants claim immunity or don’t bother to respond.

When there is no significance to such cases and when the GoP can always claim immunity then why is this govt. so inclined to accept the challenge in a US court.

This is a trap to engage the ISI in a legal battle in a US court.

  • This case will provide an opportunity to the Indian lobby to malign the reputation of Pakistan and the ISI by creating a media circus in the US and the rest of the world.

  • This case will also open a door for the US prosecutors to dump the failure of the US forces in Afghanistan on the ISI.

  • Imagine a scenario where the GoP losses the case. The possible verdict may include sentences against the officers of the ISI and financial damages against Pakistan as well.

In summary, the goal is to malign Pakistan and its strong secret service so that access to our strategic assets becomes easy.

The idea is to nip this issue in the bud. Both strategy and tactics are parts of great Chess games and we need to make a tactical move now.

The GoP needs to refute its own FO and clearly state that GoP will not respond as the said officers have immunity and the US court has no jurisdiction. No need to submit anything in a court.

Let's see what happens. The lack of a coherent policy is shameful to say the least.

Mian Saab is not "feudal" in nature?
Or PML(Q)?

The only party not feudal is the MQM.

RAW is under Prime minister..............CIA is under President...................So is the mossad and KGB

This is not the issue, after all the Pakistan Fauj is under civilian control and so are agencies of the Fauj -- the issue is the short sightedness of playing politics with the Fauj and her agencies.

With due respect, I don't think that the part bolded is an accurate statement in practice, but only in theory.

Thanks,

I myself wanted to say it but restrained myself as me being an Indian the comment would only have attracted snide remarks from some.

The govt that could not contested the trial of its own killed leader BB, can not contest a case mentioning ISI. Better leave it to ISI to deal it.

PPP should refrain from playing politics over it

have a real bad feeling about it :( Why they register that case just now? it's more than 2 years Mumbai happened and more interestingly the case is still in Pakistani courts.

The real interesting part of the game is yet to come, and relatively soon.

The media circus has already started:

WASHINGTON: Pakistani-American terror convict David Coleman Headley was recruited by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency to spy on India and to plan the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that left 166 dead, including US and Israeli citizens, a media report said Saturday.
