Once in France, he planned to create a terrorist organisation, French Popular Front (FPF), on the lines of IPF model by creating a nucleus of young French jihadists to fight foreign troops in Afghanistan.

According to observers, there is a strong possibility that Muhammad Niaz, working on the behest of RAW was attempting to infiltrate Taliban or Al-Qaeda network in Afghanistan through the diversion provided by a French connection. Reportedly, Rashid admitted that he was part of a network, which is recruiting people to carry out suicide bombings in Pakistan and Afghanistan

An Indian engineer arrested in France for his suspected terror links with Al Qaeda was being watched in this country as he has been an activist of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), a banned outfit allegedly affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said Monday.

Mohammed Niaz, originally from Madurai, was arrested at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris May 10 on his arrival from Algeria, where he had developed links with an Al Qaeda franchise.

After his arrest, French Interior Minister Claude Gueant had described Niaz as a man with a high level of technical training.

He is said to be associated with Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, one of the Al Qaida’s franchises, in Algeria. The group has vowed to carry out attacks against France and other western nations.

That makes sense, ISI would not want RAW to infilterate Taliban as Taliban are ISI monopoly. However its important that control is broken so that Taliban can be nogotiated with successfully.

may be true,but french intelligence became suspicious of him after his frequent travels to pakistan-where even osama lived in a garrison town right under the nose of pak military..btw it was just one or two days back the french announced halt on defence supplies to pakistan,they have openly admitted it was because of their suspecion of pakistan's relation to al-quida..so much for france arresting a raw agent ..pak media is making themselves look like jokers.

As you have pointed even the Home minister has acknowledged the fact that he is Indian origin from Madurai. Not like how Kasab was disowned by Pakistan. Even if supposed France deports him after indictment, he will be punished here in India, if he was involved in any kind of terrorism activity any where in the world.

Well-informed sources said here on Thursday that the French Police arrested the gang leader Muhammad Niaz Abdul Rasheed, a 33-year-old Indian national from Madurai, from Charles de Gaulle Airport on May 10, this year as he returned from a recruiting trip to Algeria.

I'm sorry, have I missed something here? where in this article is RAW actually mentioned? Yes the ring-leader is Indian but so what? Terror has no nationality. Hadley was US, OBL was Saudi, Kasab was Paskitani, Detroit Christmas bomber was Nigerian etc. If you logic holds that just because he was Indian he was working for RAW then the majority of terrorists in the world work for ISI- as living in UK almost ALL arrested terrorists are Pakistani nationals who have visited Pakistani training camps.

This is pure slander and conspiracy theories, even the (Pakistani) newspaper didn't make mention he was RAW (except for the misleading title). Not a SINGLE scrap of evidence has made it to the world stage to be OBJECTIVELY scrutinized in regards to RAW and its so-called terror outfits, if it was on the scale you Pakistanis claim it was there is NO WAY that international press wouldn't have got a whiff of it (yes, Pakistani Press have reported on it but reading those newspapers is like reading a conspiracy theorist's dream-book).
