They will need support for a very long time, financialy if nothing else.
Problem is, once the US reduces its presence, God forbid Taliban start going back and start occupying areas and ANA is not able to hold them, then will the financial support matter ?? As Taliban control more areas, that will affect the economic conditions and if that happens with Taliban not being confronted or stopped, things will go back to where it all started.

Talibans already occupy the majority of Afghanistan's area at present.
Lol, not really. If you have to wear womens clothes to enter a town, and can only put bombs on roadsides, you don't control SH1T.
That doesn't disprove the fact. The fact will remain a fact.
And the fact is: Most of Afghanistan is controlled by Taliban and Sharia law imposed on the areas.
And puppet Karzai can't go out of his presidential house without extensive and exhaustive security.
Who controls your islands? If I throw a grenade at someones house there...do I?
Same applies for Taliban.. form where they are getting financial support ?? They attack NATO and ANP and hide back in safe heavens of Pakistan. They have a huge logistic and materialistic support in pakistan otherwise without money nobody can sustain a war. if u analyse the situation over the period of time and try to join the dots u will find that they do have supporters in pakistan who are providing them shield.
A offensive against Taliban from both afganistan and pakistan would have baan a dead end for taliban... but that is not happening and the questions are asked...
Why don't you use Google and find out that how many millions of dollars of the US tax payers are going into the pockets of the Afghan Taliban. Did you knew certain NATO country soldiers used to give Taliban protection money in return of not being attacked and once these troops left and another country from NATO replaced them, they got fcuked up with many dead in the very first attack by Taliban. Did you know the NGOs working in Afghanistan give money out of the aid money to the Taliban for not being attacked ?? Where does the opium money goes ???
Here for a starter: NATO Forces Generally, Not Just Italians, Pay Taliban Fighters for Not Attacking them
Now use google and see how much US aid is going into the pockets of the taliban and from what other sources Taliban get millions of dollars, more then enough to keep their operations going on in Afghanistan without any kind of help from this side of the border. They are getting so much money that they can even sustain their operations if they want to in Pakistan. Taliban are not depended for money and weapons on Pakistan, they can get everything from right inside Afghanistan.
U.S. tax money goes to Taliban - By Colum Lynch | Turtle Bay
For rest, plzzzz use google and find out for yourself, blaming others is not the ony ideal thing to do, doing some research is also good for knowing about stuff.
" A offensive against Taliban from both afganistan and pakistan would have baan a dead end for taliban... but that is not happening and the questions are asked.."
When we launched operations in SWA to flush out militants, US/NATO left its posts on the opposite side, giving escape routes to the militants. Same thing happened in Bajaur Agency as well as Mohmand Agency. US/NATO have left majority of the areas of border in Kunar and Noristan province on the mercy of the taliban, who are using it to their full use and attacking Pakistan. The recent attacks killing 25-30 security forces in just one attack are an example of this.
Don't blame us, ask the US to deploy 10K troops just across the border on NWA and see what hell of a difference they make, but since US is not serious for an Afghan solution, thus they have hardly a few dozen posts on the border and a few hundred soldiers manning it.
During the surge, had US deployed a few thousand troops on the border across the most used crossing over points and done ambushes on the so called militants crossing over, things may have been different. But they don't want that.
We have 140K troops in the whole tribal belt, while US has roughly the same amount deployed in whole of Afghanistan, this shows who is more serious. The same US deployed 500K troops in Iraq, reason being simple, they had Oil, while poor Afghans have nothing much to offer in return, thus no serious effort on part of the Americans.
And I wonder, if the Afghan Taliban are seeking safe heavens inside Pakistan, then who the hell is occupying the majority 70% of Afghanistan ??? Plz google to find out.
