“If Husain Haqqani [Pakistan’s former ambassador to the US] could resign based on mere allegations, why shouldn’t General Pasha?” Awami National Party (ANP) MNA Bushra Gohar questioned.

ISLAMABAD:
Mum’s the word as far as the government and the military’s media wing are concerned regarding Mansoor Ijaz’s latest allegations.

The mood in the National Assembly session on Thursday, however, was anything but when a female parliamentarian demanded that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt General Ahmed Shuja Pasha should resign and face an inquiry based on the allegations that he had met some Arab leaders early this year to discuss a military coup in Pakistan.

Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz, the whistleblower behind the Memogate affair, claimed that Pasha had visited Arab countries for discussions on a possible coup, according to media reports.

“If Husain Haqqani [Pakistan’s former ambassador to the US] could resign based on mere allegations, why shouldn’t Pasha?” Awami National Party (ANP) MNA Bushra Gohar questioned.
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan initially defended Pasha, terming Ijaz’s claims “baseless”. However, when Gohar pointed out that if the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was so quick to believe Ijaz when the memo issue was brought to light, how was it that the same man had suddenly become “unreliable” when it came to the ISI chief, Chaudhry Nisar ‘unwillingly’ agreed. “Isn’t that a double standards. Isn’t it a contradiction within?” she questioned.

A blog posting on The Independent’s website quoted Ijaz as having said, “Their [US intelligence] information was that Pasha had travelled to a few Arab countries to talk about what the necessary line of action would be in the event that they had to remove Zardari from power, and so forth.”
The government should authenticate the allegations and take “necessary steps”, Chaudhry Nisar said, changing his stance.

After the Abbottabad raid unfolded, Chaudhry Nisar said it was he who “dared” Pasha to resign but nobody supported him back then. “Principally, I agree with her [Bushra’s] stance … but it is up to the government to seek a resignation from anyone,” he added.

It was the first time that a parliamentarian representing a major political party called for the ISI chief to resign in order to prove that the allegations against him were untrue.

Dang, Auntie must have been a good looking Chic in her heyday, No ?

I think people seem to forget that Gen Pasha was willing to hand in resignation in the wake of the May 2 incident, but was asked to stay on.

No dear not at all. our generals never resign no matter what happens.

No one resigned when general gracy disobeyed Quaid-e-Azam.
No one resigned when our army failed to liberate kashmir in 1965 war and operation gibralter.
No one resigned when our generals and javans raped the bangali women during 1971 civil war.
No on resigned when we surrendered in 1971 and our armay gave gaurd of owner to General Arora and saluted indain flag.
No one resigned when india captured siachin.
No one resigned when india successfully got back kargil mountais.
No one resigned when 2800 pakistano soldier were killed in kargil adventure.
No one resigned when OBL was found near kakool.
No one resigned when americans raped us in abbotabad.
No one resigned when 5 billion rs. PC3 orion got destroyed.
No one resigned when GHQ was attacked.

So, Gen. pasha is following the foot steps of his brave senior

Fauj kay khilaf bakwas karnay se pehlay ye bato who has given the ultimate sacrifice of one’s life for this country the most ?! Certainly not these political bastards especially not ANP who is busy making hole in the very boat that they float in
What more can be expected from the party of Khan Abdul Ghaddar Khan ... ANP was anti-Pakistan to start with and they still harbour ill will against Pakistan.

.
Whether ANP is Anti-Pakistan or Pro-Pakistan is for the people of Pakistan to decide, not Army or an individual. In my opinion, DG-ISI's resignation would be of no use. I mean, who is to say the next DG-ISI wouldn't be as Anti-Democratic as the current DG-ISI, if not not more? It's not like the Army respects Public Mandate.

This is how some bloody man in uniform replies when he has noting to defend the stupidities of our military establishmen
t.

"In view of pakistan army ALL PAKISTANIS ARE TRAITOR (GHADDAR) except the men in uniform."

this is what PA thinks about the chosen representatives of pakistani people:
- Bhutto (a traitor and murderer)
- SHEIKH Mujeeb (Traitor)
- Benazir (security risk and RAW agent).
- Nawaz shareef (hi jacker)
- Altaf hussain (traitor making Jinnah pur)
- ANP (traitors)
- Akbar Bughti (traitor)
- Khan of Qallat (traitor)
- Zardari (traitor and corrupt).

in short all Pakistanis are traitors except the bloody military men.

And Musharaf, Kayani, Pasha, Yahya, Zia ul Haq, Ayub Khan are "Pure hard core - ISO 9001 certified pakistani."

First there is no proof ISI chief asked Saudi Government for permission to remove Zardari even Ijaz has denied it and secondly she should first ask his party to apologize for not supporting Pakistan movement

Well, if the army needs public mandate, all it needs to do is ask the people of Karachi, both the Pashtuns, the Urdu Speaking majority and the other minorities.

Whether Pashtun or not, I believe this entire city can see where ANP's loyalties lie

.
DG-ISI does not wants to destabilize the govt i think and ANP is an American puppet.

.
has any pakistani lt general ever faced court martial???????????
our generals always stand vindicated no matter how much grave the allegation maybe DG isi admitted that he met mansoor ijaz on his request and acquired much proof that may put haqqani under suspicion now mansoor ijaz has proof of haqqani's involvement in memo conspiracy can he put forth the proofs of pasha visit to riyadh and its details imagine he does then government will sack DG isi?????? i think it will provide a casus belli for the military to intervene in political affairs of pakistan for the fifth time this time bangladesh and egypt style

from my point of view forces always dropped the onus on politicians remember 1971 forces were responsible but we keep on lampooning politicians for the humiliation

Salaams

Well it is a two way street.
I am very clear that the military leadership needs to be held accountable.

However 71 tragedy had its roots in Bhutto's greed for power more than anything else.
Had Bhutto respected the decision of the voters, things would have been better for us all.
To deploy military to settle political fallout was always going to be ugly and it became so and no doubt certain names did shame the uniform a lot...yet the crisis was political in nature.

The most interesting thing is that when the 71 tragedy's investigation commission report was made available, it was not used by government to punish all responsible. Instead Bhutto used is as a baton and set about controlling the country and military through other tactics...we all know what happened as a result.
Nationalization and Zia can be considered the misadventures of Bhutto which crippled the growth of Pakistan and took us decades behind in all aspects.

Overall though, i am convinced that our military leadership cannot progress till it is held answerable and accountable.
Once there is such a tradition...you shall see much more professionalism and lesser power politics.

My brother, we did try to remove the Awami League and we all know what happened on this very day, 16th December.

---------- Post added at 06:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:25 PM ----------

This reminds me about the great general Field Marshall Erich von Manstein, arguably the greatest general of the post-napoleonic era.

Germany's fate had been sealed by 1944 and utter destruction was undeniably on its way. Some allied commanders and a few german officers asked Manstein to stage a coup against Adolf Hitler so a ceasefire could be negotiated once Hitler was removed from power.

MANSTEIN; the architect of the SICKLE STROKE, the mastermind of the BATTLE OF KIRCH PENINSULA and the magician at the THIRD BATTLE OF KHARKOV; uttered these words,

"PRUSSIAN GENERALS DO NOT MUTINY".

A military commander, whose performance can't be paralelled by many in history, chose to OBEY HIS POLITICAL LEADERSHIP EVEN IN THE WAKE OF SURE DEFEAT. A true soldier will always honor his obedience to the leadership. Manstein refused to go against the HIGHEST OF THE TRADITIONS OF HIS FAMILY WHICH SERVED IN THE PRUSSIAN ARMY FOR CENTURIES.

Just some food for thought for those who boast that they are PROFESIONAL SOLDIERS i.e. Pakistani generals.

Sir,

His arrogance got the better of him---an american general would have done the mutiny and so would and israeli and the chinese---it would have saved the nation of un-neccessary death of hundreds of thousands and years of misery-----scr-ew the prussian general---he welfare of the nation and its people must come foremost---not ht eego of the prussian general and his filial loyalty.

Sadly has only one word to guys who still trust our defenders is that major part of our defenders may be good in parades & drills but when & where war is faced by Pakistan, our country has always been on the looser's side. If not size & shape of our country would not have shrunk since independence.

Thks

.
Well............Hussain Haqqni Resigned..................coz there is (Dal main Kouch Kala hai).............he was really cooking something.........and he was knew this is the right track to save himselft and the other theives like Zardari and Gailani. Rest about DG ISI .......Monsoor Ijaz putting allegations which he just heard from somewhere......wherease in Haqqai's case he has proofs.

.
I would be happy if Pasha was really involved for this strategy. These idiots (PPP) want to compromise the safety of nuclear program so why not? Today even the CJ of Pakistan said that because the President has'nt submitted his reply; that means there is something wrong.

.
You are absolutely right dear, she has dared to question DG ISI. ISI people will kill her like saleem shehzad.

It is about time to sack and court martial the (Kayani , Pasha nexus).

Gen. Pasha had already committed enough stupidities sufficient for his court martial.
I wish the bloody civilian and politicians had the power some day to held accountable the greedy and incompitant generals.

Which politicians u r talking abt either these are MR 10% , or Mr nawaz.. both a great lovers of Pakistan ? WTF
