ISLAMABAD – Serious differences are understood to have cropped up between Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency ISI and US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) over the latter’s dismal role in countering terrorism in Pakistan, TheNation reliably learnt on Friday.
According to well-placed sources, the differences between the two strategic partners in war against terror cropped up when ISI Chief Lt. General Ahmed Shujja Pasha in a meeting expressed his disappointment to his US counterpart, the CIA chief spymaster Leon Panetta, over the US failure to help Pakistan in counter-terrorism efforts.

Although there was no official confirmation either from the US Embassy or ISPR about the meeting, it was learnt that both of them had thought provoking talks here in which General Pasha had presented to the CIA official a shocking evidence about Indian interference into Pakistan by using Afghanistan soil. General Pasha, the informed sources said, had presented the evidence about Indian efforts aiding terrorism in Balochistan and Waziristan.
The sources said that General Pasha was critical to the CIA’s counter-terrorism strategy in Afghanistan and CIA’s failure to provide concrete actionable information to Pakistan in containing flow of aid to terror networks operating from Afghanistan to destabilize Pakistan.
The sources said that the CIA chief is currently visiting Pakistan as a follow-up to the visit of US of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to address complains of Pakistan’s military establishment.

The CIA chief is to meet Army Chief General Ashfaq Pavez Kayani today and is likely to get the similar input from him, the sources said. He is also expected to visit Saudi Arabia before his return to USA.

Until US does something about RAW's terrorist activities in Pakistan, WoT is unlikely to ever end. It presents US with a dilemma: Either end their strategic relationship with India and take RAW out of Afghanistan, or let the WoT continue.

Now this is of course a Pakistani angle and I doubt US looks at it from that way. But yes, as far as Pakistan is concerned, ending RAW's terrorism is a necessary condition for WoT to end.

It is good to have such honest exchanges with facts being presented about the involvement of India, and from the USA side, the allegation of ISI sheltering of the Afghan Taliban leadership. Hopefully the USA side also presents its "facts" in these meetings as well. BUT, if Pakistan really wants to move the USA, it should learn to "leak" its facts about Indian involvement to the US media, especially to the Washington Post. The way to put pressure on USA politicians is to make them confront and explain shortcomings and double dealings in public. If India is, in fact, making our effort to defeat the jihadis harder by the games it is playing in Pakistan, then the US public should know about it. If India's actions in Pakistan are, by extrapolation, causing the deaths of ISAF soldiers in Afghanistan, then please, please get the facts that prove this out into the public.

Give the proof to the whole world so everyone can judge the nefarious activities of RAW. Let the community of nations be the judge. Provide it to the UN, do something other than rant about RAW's activities.

The WOT is gutting your country the longer it continues the more your country gets hurt.

It presents US with a dilemma: Either end their strategic relationship with India, or let the WoT continue.

Threatening the country was imploding, the nukes were falling into extremist hands, has earned plenty of money for GOP, and weapons for the PA. As long as the WOT continues you will get money, but remember...its your fellow countrymen you sacrifice.

The strategic relations of the US will change based on strategic interests, not threats.

You made a good point that they should leak the evidence in US media. Now whether that would work or not is something I am not sure about because of US media's inherent bias against Pakistan and towards India. Keep in mind that no media outlet is bias free and each have their leanings towards particular political opinions. But ISI should give it a try nonetheless.

I have dealt with this argument before. Ultimately, US is the one controlling all this and Pakistan has to pressure US to put an end to RAW's terror activities. I don't think neither government nor army wants the WoT to continue.

And you do realize that Pakistan has lost more money than it gained due to WoT. The aid is cancelled out and then made negative by all the money spent on WoT. Like mentioned, neither the government nor the army want the war to continue. Taking RAW out of Afghanistan could be beginning of the end - although WoT may not end just because RAW is taken out, but it WON'T end if RAW is not taken out.

Knowing US media they'll probably take the evidence, twist it around and make Pakistan look evil. Its not a good idea to trust US media, maybe only a few factors of US media are trustworthy but most of US media are run by zionists - cnn, fox news, abc, new york times, etc are all run by zionists, and other than indians, zionists are the last people willing to help Pakistan.

That's probably true. I don't trust the US media and if Pakistan were to leak evidence, they would probably make some sarcastic mockery out of it. Media itself is a propaganda wing of governments, individuals, and groups to influence public opinion and is never free of bias. CNN and Fox are the last media outlets, besides indian, that we should be trusting.

All I could make out of it, yeah the unnamed source makes a comeback, for his last statements about handing over dossier of proof to India was denied fairly soon. These unnamed sources are as excited about proof distribution ceremony, as kids are for santa clause. What they dont realize is - The santa Clause and the alleged proof both aint real.

Grow up.

ISI gives CIA proof of Indian hand in Waziristan unrest

Islamabad: Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Ahmed Shuja Pasha, during his meeting with Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director Leon Panetta, has reportedly presented evidence regarding India’s hand in fanning terrorism in Balochistan and Waziristan.

Sources privy to the meeting said differences cropped-up between the two intelligence chief’s after General Pasha criticised the US for its failure to help Pakistan in its counter-terror efforts.

Sources said General Pasha, during the meeting, expressed his disappointment over CIA’s failure to provide credible information to Islamabad regarding the extremist groups working in Afghanistan to create trouble in Pakistan.

Panetta is visiting Pakistan as a follow-up to the US of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s visit to address complains of the Pakistan’s Army, The Nation reports.

He also held separate meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani.

Insiders said the CIA chief discussed at length issues regarding military-to-military cooperation and intelligence sharing to make joint efforts against terrorism more effective during his meeting with General Pasha.

I would have thought the ISI would have much better contacts in Afgahistan than the CIA after all isnt that one of the reasons the CIA has been paying a small fortune each year to the ISI ?
