Is Turkey a European country

yes pretty much
West Asia.

*The name Asia originates from the contrast of Europa [west coast of the Aegean Sea and Asia Minor [Anatolia]. And how do you conclude it is in Europe [bar that tiny sliver]?

Have you heard of Istanbul??
I know this is cliché to say but this city literally divides Europe and Asia and has at least 10 milion people much more than most of european states its territory belongs to europe so yes according to this Turkey is european country
Actually in all parameters(sociopolitical economical military geographical) Turkey is classified as european country
Of course according to the religion parameter it is classified as part of the Middle East since Europe is considered as christian continent but as you can see in almost all other criteria it is considered as part of Europe

Have you heard of Istanbul??
Have you also heard that sliver of Turkey [Thrace?] is tiny portion. All of Anatolia falls in Asia. As I said even the name Asia is derived from that land.

And I was using Europe as a geographic frame of referance. If you decide to use others then Israel, Australia, New Zealand etc have far greater qualification to be part of 'Europe'.

And if you accept the proposition that Turkey is in Europe it follows that one of the greatest Muslim empire [caliphate] was European. And all of Middle East, North Africa were European colonies of th Ottomans.

So you are taking the geography criteria
Though only 3% of total turkish soil still according to even western sources it does belong to Europe and has 10+ million population so yeah Turkey is transcontinental country therefore you can say both adjectives (european and asian)

Correct me if I am wrong but the term 'Europe is geographic and belongs to the same category as Asia, Africa, Americas etc. As I said a tiny % of Turkey falls in Europe. A huge % of Russia falls in Asia but that does NOT make Russia Asiatic. Furthermore Turkish language itself is originates from heartlands of Asia. Good chunk of Turkish population are Kurds who are found in Iran, Syria, Iraq. The religion of Turks is decidely regarded as non European. The Ottomans originate from Central Asia.
