Image of Predator drone aircraft at Shamsi Airbase in Pakistan -- no longer available on Google. Image via Wikipedia. The controversy over U.S. drone attacks has continued for several years, and Pakistan’s military has come under sharp public criticism for tacitly cooperating in the covert U.S. campaign.

According to press reports The CIA has been carrying out attacks in northwest Pakistan using pilot-less drones since 2004. This year there have been 19 drone strikes so far in which at least 95 people have been killed.

The Pakistan Airforce has canceled the holidays of personnel assigned to keep vigil on the country’s airspace.

After hundreds of drone attacks the PAF is now on alert? After hundreds of innocent civilians have been killed, the PPPP government sends a mild demarche to the US Ambassador? Senator Boxer and others have repeatedly said that the drone attacks were being conducted with the consent of the PPP government at the highest levels. The WikiLeaks actually has a quote from Mr. Zardari where says that he is not too worried about the “collateral damage’. The US and Pakistani media has repeatedly published pictures of drones on US bases in Pakistan.

The unending controversy over American drone attacks has been going on for several years, and Pakistan’s military has come under sharp public criticism for “tacitly” (wink wink, nod nod) cooperating in the covert U.S. campaign

Who are we kidding with this wink-wink-nod-nod public chagrin and private acquiescence?

The most compliant president in the history of Pakistan, who removed the Foreign Minister because he stood up to Hillary Clinton, now has grown :you know what” to tell Ambassador Munter–that we are not a client state.

Who are we fooling?

According to press reports, the PAF is on high alert and has intensified air patrolling over the Pakistan’s North Western tribal areas– after a US drone attack killed over 40 people recently.

What is Mr. Zardari going to do–use the old American F-16 and shoot down the new US Reaper?

According to press reports US unmanned drones (Reapers, and Preadators) had fired four missiles on March 17 in Data Khel town in North Waziristan district along the Afghan border. Those killed were local tribal leaders who had gathered to settle a financial dispute. The Hellfire missile killed at least 41 people and injuring hundreds. In protest Pakistan has decided to pull out of the trilateral ministerial meeting between the US, Pakistan and Afghanistan scheduled for March 26 in Brussels. It has also handed over the mildest of demarches to the US Ambassador, Mr. Munter who is supposedly rushing to Washington to deliver the message.

General Kayani and General Pasha, along with PM Gilani and President Zardari have to come clean on the drones. Pakistanis don’t like it and if these gusy can’t stop them, they will get others who will.

Why the public posturing now?

The National Assembly and the Pakistani Senate passed a unanimous resolution condemning the drone strikes several years ago. Before the ink was dry on that resolution, the CIA intensified the drone attacks.

If we are to beleive Secretary Bashir–”that the fundamentals of our relations need to be revisited” then why the public posturing. The US bases should be shut down, the supply chain has to be halted, the US Embassy in Islamabad should be pared down, and the Quetta Consulate construction has to be stopped.

PAF is part of armed forces and does not act unilaterally so when where the govt and GHQ decides it will surely shoot down but for the time being no such plan is in sight

PAF chief has publicly declared in past, that he will shoot down any UAV provided political leadership permit to do so.
There was no follow up by political goons, which confirms civilian govt. is complicit in drone attacks as it is instrumental in destroying economy and image of Pakistan.

There is no point in posting such false propaganda in various threads.

Indians have already posted these photo shopped pictures which were posted on this forum perhaps in 2007.

Well its US foreign to shake hands, and behind the scene plan to shoot down people - can't be trusted

Looks like our govt trust them. Actually both on the same mission one killing Pakistani by drones and other by its policies :)

If they were serious to stop then they stopped them in 2008 after Masharraf presidency. Analyzing all fact & reports it not hard to define that nothing will happen, i wrote in an other similar thread that reality behind many many covers.

It was better if COAS clarify Pakistan defense position in public over this issue but didn't happened.
Meanwhile all main political players knew this fact about drones but they as monkey play screwed screwed this matter and we reach at point where once again we lost our trust not only in politicians but in army as its worst.
If these drones are really helpful in WOT then why our governing body so reluctant explain to nation? as PA general stated in last weeks.
It is no more secret but i ever saying that this shows our typical mentality from an ordinary man to a politician or army generals, after all we all living in same social system.
We don't like set our mind to regulate issues nor let other to understand what we want.

These Jamaet e Islami, PPP, PPP (Hell), ML (N), ML (Q), ML (Hell) they all aware from reality but keep silence. Poor people standing on roads in protests showed their emotion which worthless.

Pakistan was under Musharaf and the strikes were on. The civilian govt. has not changed the status. Looks like the impression given to the public and the noises made by defence as well as people in power is for domestic consumption only.

not this time buddy
Pakistan has pulled off from the upcoming trilateral Afghan dialog.
Army was damned if it stayed quiet. Its damned even after protesting over the attack on the open air gathering of tribal elders who until their last moments of life stayed calm thinking that these drones were only meant for Taliban not them who themselves are actually fighting the Taliban.
What a shame, this incident reminds me of the attack on flight 655. When an American cruiser went into Iranian waters and shot down a passenger plane that was flying in Iranian Airspace. Do scroll down the link and look at the nationals that lost their lives before making any further comment. As it happens my dear, there is a clear symmetry about the actions of American forces. Total disregard for human life. I hope you have seen that gun cam footage of the apache mowing down civilians, journalists and children in Iraq? Do spare a thought for the people who lost their lives in such tragedies at the hands of these cowboys.

Pakistan has pulled off from the ucoming trilateral Afgan dialog !!! so what Bhai Sahib, ik awaz per civilian or fauji ______ dum hilaty pohanch jai gaay.

Does the army takes prior approval from GHQ or Govt Before firing in reply of indian Border forces if not then why not they shoot down these Drones without noticing the Govt ?
