Ford makes better trucks, and Toyota comes next, however one has to consider long term maintenance. Generally Nissans are heavier on fuel and Mercedes have some sensor issues. So if the maintenance was not an issue personally I will pick Ford due to its capabilities or stick to Toyota as traditionally Pakistani maintenance staff is familiar with it.

Looks like you haven't drove Ford VelociRaptor F-150.
Ford 150 or 250 are one of the best trucks in the World rest of their line of vehicles have their ups and downs but Ford trucks nothing but the best.

Ford ranger better than Land Cruiser? Blasphemy

Having driven Ford vehicles for like 7 odd years, i must say these things are not worth the money.

The quality got better after ~2010.

I know, but PA is fan of Toyota they didn't like Land rover / defender much. What Ford can offer? They are usually expensive to operate compared to Japanese vehicles.

The worldwide Ranger is produced by a Chinese company.

The news sounds stupid as there is nothing as tough built as a defender.

Ford would be a very sturdy base to add on to to make better troop carriers than we have currently at a fraction of the cost of a dedicated troop carrier... Remember we have gotten some good TOT lately from different countries in the field of armour.

Sigma motors made Pakistan Army a blunder first by introducing those Land rovers and now they are again making a blunder.

Toyotas are the best and if still required, then look the Chinese way with in-house production.

Sigma motors had and may still be having very strong links with higher management in Pak Army and due to which they got the previous contract and might make this one.

Comparing ford ranger with land rover is a sin i must say, land rover is a local horse you can say where ford ranger is a white elephant eat all your budget.

This is probably being tested as a light utility vehicle so armored APCs and transports are separate things.

Indus Motors has the exclusive production rights for Toyota vehicles so Land Cruiser is pretty much still in the game when there will be a open tender or evaluation.

Sigma motors has the license for Range Rover Defender and they get contracted by Gandhara motors for manufacturing Nissan vehicles. So they cant consider the Land Cruiser as that is a competitor product. Evaluation of the Ford vehicle is probably an internal move by Sigma motors at the moment for their own product prospects.

Ideally when PA does choose to evaluate a vehicle I think reason why they didnt reorder existing vehicles already in inventory could be that they are looking for a vehicle type not in use by general public, makes it easier to distinguish as they are fighting an urban militancy that relies on deceit.
