In June 1984, India's late former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi gave personal approval to Operation Bluestar.
The objective was to flush out militant Sikhs, fighting for an independent homeland of Khalistan, from the Golden Temple complex.


Bluestar achieved its military objectives.

But the costs were enormous. There has never been agreement on how many people were killed in and around the temple, and how many of the dead were innocent bystanders, rather than militants.

Later that year Mrs Gandhi's Sikh bodyguards assassinated her.

That in turn triggered a wave of anti-Sikh rioting which left nearly 3,000 Sikhs dead.

RAW can play as a low life always and can not carry out big terrorism operations in Pakistan unless it gets the support of big players like KGB, KHAD or Mossad in the past in the 80s during first Afghan war when Peshawar and Karachi was rattled by RAW planted bombs almost daily. The current situation is the same when this time RAW gets some relief in shape of support from CIA, and every other intelligence agency working in Afghanistan which is anti-Pakistan. India can not have direct placement for terror activities in Pakistan but indeed it does have access to local elements which have made its tasks of carrying terrorism easy.

Anyway the difference between 80s and now is that now Pakistanis have learned the art of counter psy-ops and media wars above all tracing all these psychological tactics and terrorism.

Pakistan begs for talks .why , It wants to prove to the world that ,India is talking to Pakistan because Pakistan has stopped terrorism.

every civilised country opts for talks when there are differences between that particular country and the other. Now i dont know if India comes under this category or not which always shy away but when US puts pressure it comes to table. Another thing now when Indian govt has decided officially to hold secretary level talks with Pakistan SO does it mean that India belief Pakistan has stopped "terrorism" ??
