Without thinking that Pakistan could be the next victim of US blackmail and coercion, Islamabad has welcomed Iran\'s nuclear deal with the six major powers of the world. Tehran has agreed not to enrich its uranium over 5 percent level and to destroy the already enriched matter.
Iran for decades tried to keep its political independence and warded off US influence in its internal affairs. But its economy, in spite of its oil resources, was crippled by US sanctions. While other major powers towed the US line, the Muslim countries watched as bystanders while Iran was pushed around and black mailed into agreeing to this unfavourable deal.
Things, however, would have been different had the Muslim countries shunned their petty differences and stood by Iran and broken the US bans and continued their trade ties with Tehran. The US and the European powers would have found it difficult to ban trade with the whole Muslim world.
This, however, is not to say that Iran government is blameless in the matter. Successive governments in Tehran for the last three decades have been uncompromising in its relations with the Muslim countries as with the rest of the world. To stick to its stance and its short-term national interests have been the hallmark of Tehran diplomacy. After the Khomeini revolution of December, 1978, it was the rule of the \'believers\' in Tehran who like all ideologues believed that their faith will carry the day for them no matter what the circumstances. And like ideologues, successive Iran governments were impractical and insensitive to the views and needs of even friendly nations.
While the pre-revolution Iran government was labelled as the stooge of Washington, the later governments refused even to cooperate with nations who wanted to decrease the superpower\'s influence in their regions. The art of give-and-take diplomacy for all practical purposes was booed by the policymakers in Tehran. The result was that instead of creating and be part of an anti-US block comprising Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, it estranged itself from these countries. As such, it stood alone as the six major powers of the world coerced it into signing a treaty which amounts to surrendering its independence.
Be as it may, for Pakistan and many other third world countries, it was not an occasion to be welcomed or celebrated. One by one, most of these countries will be forced to surrender their independence and resources to these major powers. It will then be Iran\'s turn to welcome signing of such degrading treaties by any one or all of the underdeveloped nations with the major economic and military powers of the world.
Even our analysts are dazed by the success of arm twisting methods of US . None of our pundits even had the heart to point out that it was the United States of America which had used nuclear weapons not once but twice and killed, burned and maimed millions of Japanese. That in the nuclear war game the US is the only culprit known as the mass killer and has a record which pales even Chengaz Khan and Hitler\'s thirst for human blood.
Logically, the world should be demanding that Washington should be the first to destroy its nukes and all its nuclear producing facilities, for it is a proven criminal. Yet this criminal nation heads all international missions formed in the name of peace; it of course, is a different matter that the interests of the US comes first and peace takes a back seat during the proceedings of these peace missions.
The situation in the non-Muslim underdeveloped is not much different and the rulers there are as much beholden to US government aid as are the Muslim rulers.
Like them they also have no sense of history and do not have the wisdom to educate their masses into the ways of the world of international politics. The leaders of the non-Muslim underdeveloped country too are more bent upon creating a hysterical population involved in emotional issues rather than the solution of their tangible economic problems.
In Pakistan too, the masses are being trained or rather brainwashed not to ask pertinent questions regarding their own wellbeing.
Nor are the rulers asked to fulfil their promises pertaining to economic improvement of the masses. Opposition leaders don\'t bring out the people to demand that the government became alive to the many cases of corruption of government officials and ministers in courts and achieve conviction in these.
The people are not asked to come out and demand universal education and health facilities in the country.
The masses are appealed to come out and fill the roads and streets when sectarian and regional violence takes place instead of being told to join hands and press the authorities for impartial investigation and conviction of the guilty.
It is not the governments of the underdeveloped world which will unite against the exploitation of the developed countries; it is for the people to join in the purpose and force their leaders to save them from the manipulation of the rich states. There is no other option left.
Is Pakistan next after Iran
