@a_b I think we should continue to enhance the JF-17, we can upgrade the current version to block 3 if and when required, J-10 is based on Lavi fighter fighter from Israel, we should wait for fc-31.kudos
JF-17 Block 3—Projected to feature further avionics advancements such as an AESA radar, more use of composites, a new engine, helmet mounted display, and a two-seater cockpit option, with a top speed of 2.0+ Mach.[64][116][140]Pakistani Air Force officials have described it as a "fourth generation plus" fighter jet. According to unconfirmed media reports the induction is expected to start around 2019.[141] As of January 2016, the design of the JF-17 Block III has not been finalized.
source wikipaedia ....... then we can expect block 4 to be near 5th gen and will bwe able to induct them nearly the same time as the HAL FGFA will come out .... then why go for fc-31 or j-20 they untill they prove their worth ........ gosh PAF planners are really very smart to wait it out

we will have to wait and see friend and I am not aware of any block 4.

neither am i just speaking theoretically ..... as the word enhancing came up
Their is a limit to how far we can enhance/upgrade the design, I think top brass will eventually go for the fc-31 or j-20 which as far as I aware is not being offered to anyone.

i think the main problem is they are not in production yet and mostly due to their engines otherwise internet is full of the crapnews about j-20 and j-31 offers to pakistan ....... speaking of which is there any chance we might join the program .... in development of indigenous engine perheps ..... as we did in jf-17 ...... by doing that we can brag about them as well..:pakistan:

J-10 A to C versions are not feasible, however upcoming J-10D seems good opportunity due to its New AESA radar, newer more powerful fuel-efficient engine, and conformal tanks.
I don't think that thing i.e. J-10D exists even on papers.

I don't see Pakistan buying J-10 ever. They already have a plane that's on the same level or better in the F-16

Pakistan needs a big bird like the Su-35 or F-15. I also don't see the J-20 being exported to Pakistan or any other country either.

The J-10B/C would offer the PAF a platform with a sizable AESA radar, improved RCS, agility, IRST, and composites, which is not mirrored by the current F-16s that PAF uses.

Pakistan F-16s can always upgrade to AESA and IRST

I just don't see Pakistan buying J-10 for what you listed when they can buy Su-35 that have the same things and is a better aircraft overall.

like I said Pakistan needs a big fighter not a midget like the J-10

Yes, but there is a certain extent to which F-16 airframes can be upgraded. The J-10B/C and Su-35 are two different platforms occupying two diverging niches; their capabilities are not up for comparison.

extent? the F-16 is refined!! and the J-10 is just now catching up to it with upgrades. both are 4th gen fighters and both would get wrecked bu a Flanker, which is why I am saying Pakistan needs a heavy air superiority fighter like the Su-35 or F-15.

If Pakistan wants to buy the J-10 to go with their F-16 fine, but don't expect that it will help against Indians Su-30MKI or Rafale.

I'm not sure what you mean by the F-16 being "more refined". The J-10B/C offers an AESA radar with 1152 T/R modules, more composite materials, radar absorbent material, IRST, integrated electronics connected by optic fiber, a brand new cockpit, and other enhancements; the F-16s currently operated by Pakistan do not offer all of the aforementioned.

A comparison between a J-10B/C class fighter and the Su-35/Rafale/MKI is profoundly more complex than one side "getting wrecked".

"more refined" as it's been constantly upgraded since it came out and will continue to be upgraded for at least another decade or two.

your point was the F-16 can't get any better while it's been doing that since the 1980's :coffee:

Perhaps ,as our engineers have gained knowledge due to their efforts in the JF-17 program, though the situation is a little different in regards to these other aircraft, as China wants to be the sole owner and exporter of these aircraft, remember China decided not to induct the JF-17, it was not such a big deal for them, this can not be said of the J-20 and FC-31
