More like corruption & love for foreign platforms

Can't let that for decision making group whom are relevant to Indian national security. What corruption are we talking about in military/defense?

You are absolutely right india should proceed with developing indigenous products it not only saves money but also enhances local industry capability. Only by adhering to protocols and standards we can have better product.
But things do not happen overnight. Products like aircraft,tank which require mastering of several technologies and integration expertise across hundreds of components. India has just started once more private companies join in then things might change in another 2 or 3 decades. More ever we cannot miss the fact of large arms brokers present in arms deals. It might be most of the navy deals are govt-2-govt giving less scope for corruption whereas airforce is known for buying lot of foreign equipment with lot of fanfare.

But it takes time as you said. We could have gone for AEGIS destroyers but thankfully they launched their own project. But commissioning is at 2020. So long. But important yes.

Commissions, honey trap, middle man role of relatives and there companies which Public Sector Companies didn't provide & we have barred entry of corporate sector which recently got lifted.
Our political and civil leader are naive in military affairs and mostly can't point out difference between rocket and mortar which resulted a total lack of vision in Military industrial complex development.
This gives Armed forces High command full space to execute their game without any check and balance.

But they maintain a lot more then their planes, do you not see the number of platforms the Navy would have to handle. But I gave my honest opinion, that the IAF needs to be mature and understand that there are different needs other then only latest foreign aircraft.

What are you talking about? naval air arm now operates around 12 harriers ,24 Mig 29k,8 p8i,16 hawks, +16 LRMP.

This article is really an eye opener as IAF reluctant to use local and Russian planes gives you an idea how much money is playing its part (from French) first Mirage expensive upgrades, then insisting on Rafael deal which is way expensive for India to support in large number as Gripen would have been fit in very nicely. Naval force looks more professional in terms of wings but again accident in submarines points out there inefficiencies .So its kind of mix reaction .
