There are some members who are bottom-feeders. They exist among the Pakistani as well as among the Indian members. I oppose them wherever they are. I have constantly opposed Windy's posts on each and every occasion, first, because they hardly ever add to the discussion, second, because there is a spiteful, malicious edge to them.

The USAF talked down the F-15 and F-16 so as to try and push the political decision makers to induct greater numbers of F-22s- this is no different. The IAF is doing all they can to get their envisaged fleet of top of the line Rafales. There is little substance to these claims.

Militaries, humans,pilots etc are the same all over the world- bigger is always better.

Western media and local indian chamchas have propensity to show indian manufactured stuff in bad light. As we all know this scare mongering is due to fear of losing a big market like india. One good example is refusal of technology for cryogenic engine. Though it is taking time but we are certainly on the way to attaining and mastering cryogenic technology.

Every product will have issues, over a period of time the rough edges will smoothened out and it will be upgraded with better technology. These learnings will came in handy when we start developing another new fighter jet program.

For fan boys who deride LCA, LCA is just one part of the overall ecosystem of fighting war. There are pilots(+training), early warning system,humint,SAM , satellites, other air craft ....etc making up over all eco system of war fighting. LCA's can very well be used to defend the hinterland and other aircraft can take the fight to enemy.

Pakistan had better tanks in 1971 war ? did they win the battles nope. You fight a war with what you have not with what you want.

I'm not even sure that is the case. The Indian media is working to the beat of their own drum whether that be on the behest of vested interests or out of pure stupidity I am not sure but one thing is for sure- they are not reporting the news and their reports are in no way accurate representations of the reality.

Every time Tejas gets delayed, it's bar is raised since according to Indian logic, the delay was due to incorporating new technology into it.......it's a different matter, Tejas has been blowing hot and cold for almost three decades, by which time, most aircraft are near the end of their service life.

  • October - PV-3 and LSP-2 completed air-to-ground weapons delivery trials.
  • 26th November - Two seater (Trainer) version of Tejas (PV-5) made its maiden flight on 26 Nov 09.
  • 7th December - Tejas speed envelope expanded to 1350 km/h (CAS) while performing flight flutter test in a dive to near sea level. These tests were conducted at INS Hansa, Goa.

2010
  • 6th June - TD-2 made her successful maiden flight.
  • 23rd April - LCA Tejas LSP-3 made maiden flight. LSP-3 is close to the final configuration including the new air-data computers.
  • Multi Mode Radar, new communication and navigation equipment and radar warning receiver. With this the LCA programme has completed 1350 test flights logging about 800 flying hours.
  • 2nd June - First Flight of LCA Tejas LSP-4. Flight. In addition to the LSP-3 standard of preparation, the aircraft also flew with the Countermeasure Dispensing System.
  • 19 November - First Flight of LCA Tejas LSP-5.

Tell that to OP, as the very topic draws comparison with JF-17. !!

Although Sukhoi Su30 MKI will continue to remain our front line fighter but Tejas will be a good match against Pakistani JF-17 and will allow air force to remove some of our Advanced fighters from western border and place them against China. Although Tejas is smaller than JF-17 yet it could carry more weapon payload due to its high thrust to weight ratio than JF-17. It also has 7 weapon hard points against 6 hard points of JF-17
