Is India's Missile Defense Making War With Pakistan More Likely?

I think this observation far fetched on hypothetical scenario which only have 10% chance of occurring becoz current environment and situation only lead to short skirmish or escalated goes to a conventional war limited to Azad Kashmir region , the nuclear war author denoting is kind of far cry the reason becoz as of my assumption currently Pakistan have parity or ability to confine India in a single front conventional war by tool saturation but if India employees multiple front the story will be different but in order to that to happen Pakistan must have to strike out side IOK region as a response to Indian adventure to Azad Kashmir , to my best understanding Pakistan army or military establishment using optimized option to contain India through choosing the front in only one sector not allowing them to open multiple fornts in other areas which in other words degrade India's troop mobilization and other logistics due to entire J&k geography, about conventional air defence I have to admit India giving a lot of focus on that sector with mix of western and eastern system with integrated air defence networks

Heard that argument first time i started using PDF and it is kind of pathetic that you people are still at it.

I think it is time to focus on your own economy which is in $hit tatters. From what i can see you people hardly need an enemy you people will die at your own hands not Pakistan or China or any other country.

Please don’t forget to let me know when you have 5th of Indian reserves ($80B) and IMF off your back.

You are still hearing that argument because it is still true.

You must worry about your broke finances bro. You are up to to your neck in it. If this is not true you would have put your army on the border after Aug5.

Missile programs are not expensive at all, just look around and even the poor and under sanctioned countries like Iran, Iraq, NK, etc have managed missile programs. The counter to it, BMD, is a real money pit and does not provide any guarantees as well.

Missile program if you have the know how is cheap, but not maintaining it.

It is even more of a drag if you want to maintain nuke ones.

Lolz,

You dont even understand that manufacturing nuclear capable ballistic missile is much cheaper than an anti ballistic missile system.

Even in terms of operational cost there is a huge difference. It is actually other way around where for inexpensive strategies of Pakistan India is getting very expensive solution.

Again, maintaining nukes and missiles don’t come cheap. China has a declared 200 nukes. And they have a bigger enemy to face.

If India is clever with their ABM tech, they might be able to able to sell to friendly countries and make some money.

"The biggest problem from India's side is that it all too frequently announced that it has a capability which mobilizes Pakistan to innovate when in fact India is a long way from achieving the stated capability but Pakistan has already developed a counter measure," Fair warns
That's really something lol

Do you not believe Pak will invest in a ABM system if it can afford one?? Even if it capable of just bringing the brahmos down?

Hats off to your knowledge. Brahmos is not ballistic missile but a cruise missile.

Pakistan is not investing in anti ballistic missile system. Infact we are investing in missiles capable of evading anti ballistic missile system. Therefore as soon as you develop a system with tens of billions of dollars of investment we make it useless by investing few millions dollars.

Be it Nasr, MIRV or any other Pakistan is anticipating India's moving and is getting ready ahead.

Furthermore, in India Pakistan scenario due to short distances anti ballistic missile system are most likely ineffective.

Semantics. What I meant was Pak will definitely invest in a affordable system that can bring down brahmos if not an full fledged ABM.

India is making Pak to get into an arms race. S400 will only exacerbate the situation for Pak.

No, we are not going to have a nuclear exchange whether it is 80kms or 2000kms.

Well this sums it up.

Why do you think that India doesn't have the capability to intercept BMD when it has clearly shown its ability to track and hit a satellite travelling at 7-8 km per second speed or Mach 21 to 24? If the IIR seeker can track an object at that high speed as well as maneuver fast enough to hit it exactly, interception of missile should be reasonably within capability limit.

U do understand tje difference between a test and real scenario. In a test u precisely know the trajectory, no jamming, no interference. In real life, any BMD has a percentage of success. Also BMDs can be overwhelmed easily with drones. Cruise missiles can sneak in and MIRV can ensure BMD cant stop a hit. By the way i quoted the article, so might ask the author how he deduced that.

The USA has the best ABM systems in the world but were unable to stop the Iranian missile strike on their airbases a few months ago. What is the lessen in that exchange???

If i am not wrong, the distance of Lahore to Amritsar is less thaN 60/70 KM....Do we really beleive, that in an event of an war, any kind of missile defence will work??? Baas sare public ko goli de rahe hain...

Why are you dreaming to grill Lahore and Amritsir?
Use another example, anything from south because Pakistan can as well launch missiles from underneath water.
