Is India making the same mistake Pakistan made by allying with the US?

Why would you exacerbate relations with your neighbor to please others? The writer is right by focusing on India's long-term benefits.
How is it exacerbating relations with neigbours if we have good relations with US ?

The neighbor hurts your interests because of lack of effort towards mutual understanding on both sides, such is the case with many a nations of Asia. At the end of the day a peaceful neighborhood is in everyone's best interest.

That i right.
But that does not mean that onus of peace rests on the shoulders of india alone.
If there is no effort from other side, we could care less.

The problem starts when countries think that America is supposed to be some sort of "divine presence" or a "daddy". Countries don't have friends. They just have mutual interests. That they "use each other" is not evil, just reality. Pakistan used the US over the years just as we used them. The same is true of their relations with China or India's future relationship with America. People just need to grow up and accept that that is the way the real world operates.

Of Course .Each and every movement of India would be solely based on our interest .
Same like that of US.
US Pakistan business was a really loss to Pakistan .Of Course they used US for money but they paid a lots more than that as human lives and economy.

There is a lot of difference in the foreign policy of India and what was the foreign policy of Pakistan when we talk about how to deal with the global powers. India used its friendship with the soviets for its own benefits and the US wouldn't be much different. We are developing friendship with the US for a comman cause and we dont buy subsidised weapons from the them either so the US cannot bully us in the future for something which is not in our interest.

Giving the US it's bases to use against China will only disrupt the regional stability. Sure, have good relations with the US, have good relations with every nation as for that matter, but don't let them use you against your own long-term interests.

And of course the way forward for peace is mutual, but consistent effort should be made.

Then that's on them and not on the USA. When will people realize that generations of corrupt and incompetent politicians have literally, gotten away with murder and enriched themselves at their countries expense by using the old formula that always, always, works; "blame America!" They bet that when the people suffer, their infrastructure is a disaster, they suffer defeats, their government is corrupt, their children live in poverty, that rather than hold their own government accountable, their corrupt leaders can just blame big, mean, ole' America for all their faults and troubles. Wave the flag of patriotic nationalism and anti-Americanism, and it will works every time. :tsk:

Agreed .Same happened in that case also.

Wow..!! Pretty prudent advice bro... Have you ever considered giving the same advice to your own govt? Why exacerbate relations with India to please China? Why exacerbate relations with Afghanistan to please the Taliban? Why exacerbate relations with Iran to please Saudi..?

why should always india make the effort when none of the other parties want peace and keep harming owr interests whenever and where ever they can ?

India must join wars of western countries.
why should we unless it is necessarry for our long and short term goals ? please do elaborate

There is not a single US base in India. There are no US soldiers or assets stationed in India. I'd request you to provide links that point to the contrary.
In absence of US bases on Indian soil, your statement becomes null and void.

BTW, Pakistan, on the other hand, has ceded a large portion of GB to China, leased Gwadar to the Chinese, and stationed Chinese troops in GB, and not to forget, the laundry list of bases that Pakistan has given to US. So, tell me my friend... In your own words, giving bases to the Chinese in Pakistani territory disrupts the strategic stability or not?

. .
We know that they know we know how the things were cooking when US was cozying up with Pakistan.

Thanks to Pakistan we now know how to deal, what to do, what not to do... with regard to US.

For that, we are very much indebted to Pakistan.
Good reply,
I hope India plays its cards right,
Shouldnt ever let any of its policies dictated by USA

. .
USA needs India and not the other way around. If India is doing a mistake, it is by ignoring its previous allies.

But here I see India doing another mistake. India is picking its ally which is at a distance while it is making enemy that lives next door.
