Pakistan has a lot to learn from India when it comes to their economic policies and international relations since the early 1990s. There are no brotherhoods or sisterhoods on both fronts. It is pure self interests which counts. India buys and sells products from and to any country which is a good market. It minds its own business on issues which do not concern it. It has no brotherly relations with countries such as Sri Lanka, Nepal etc. It is a country, not a family member. Here is my 2 cents. Pakistan is a landmass sandwiched between Iran(also Afghanistan) and India and hence maintaining a good relationship with Iranians would keep Pakistan in toe. So if some day both India and Pakistan resolve their issues, Iran from strategic perspective become less important to India.

International relations and trade does not work like that, all states put their national interests first and should ideally aspire to have good diplomatic and trading relations with the world. In Iran's case, India have scaled back under pressure from the US. India Iran relations go a long ways back, much before any of the three modern nation states came to be.

India and Turkey have also defied the US and gone ahead with purchase of the S-400 from Russia.

Pragmatism is the name of the game, sometimes you have to punch up. Locked inside an ideological bubble and viewing the world as black or white does not work on the big global stage. Individuals can choose to live their lives like that if they so desire (also a bad idea imo) but countries can not.

Pakistan needs to learn. It should bring in strong leadership who makes pro Pakistan decision rather than get orders from USA or GCC. We have Iran as our neighbour and we are desperate for cheap gas, oil and electricity but we never imported from Iran even though it cost us billions of economy loss, our country and industry shut down because of power loss for many years.

An act of slavery committed by us. We at behest of other shot ourselves in foot. Now the same people we sacrificed for are hugging our enemies and investing billions in to their country. Yes they might throw a few bones to Pakistan to keep us happy.

Pakistan needs to create a 50+ years of economy and foreign relation policy, any new corrupt government comes, they should not be able to change our main priority state goals, maybe amend here and that to suit current situation.
