IS has grown root in Bangladesh, NBC reports

A map from the National Counterterrorism Center shows the worldwide expansion of IS as of August 2016.
Star Online Report
Apart from being fully operational, middle east-based Islamist terrorist outfit Islamic State has grown its root into Bangladesh, reports US news channel NBC.

Citing a document placed at the White House, NBC reports that as of August IS expanded to 18 countries with roots in at least six, including Bangladesh.

Egypt, Indonesia, Mali, the Philippines and Somalia are the other five where IS grew its roots. According to US State Department’s own numbers in 2015, IS was operational in 13 countries.

A New York Times report has already said Islamic State sent its foot soldiers to Bangladesh as well as to Indonesia and Malaysia in Asia.

NBC News terrorism analysis Malcolm Nance said the US has been successful in attacking the "ISIS core" in Iraq and Syria, but that the "heat map" obtained by NBC News "could probably be a lot bigger if they were to show all the aspirational regions where ISIS wants to operate and has carried out terrorist attacks."

"It's fair to say that the whole battle space is expanding for ISIS," he added.

The number of foot soldiers sent back by ISIS shouldnt be more than 10. I feel it is no more than 20 people that have created havoc around the country. 5 in Gulshan and 9 in Mirpur have died. I predict that next terrorist attack will take time as they will try to reorganize and recruit.

Do not think IS needs to train the foot soldiers from BD. All the fanatic Islamic parties or organizations in BD and Pakistan are in alliance with Baghdadi without his knowing. These fanatics go to CHT or Assam jungle to get their arms training.

East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, took the route of religious Nazism by declaring that they can't live with their own people of other religions, created their own Muslim country by dividing a continuous piece of land, and then systematically persecuted and drove out their own people of same ethnic and linguistic group because of their different religion. Now things are heading towards its logical end.......the path of extreme intolerance is an one-way track that feeds itself and generates more intolerance; leading itself to hell. Karma has its own mysterious ways to teach a lesson, check Hitler's Germany, it started a small fire that went on to burn the whole country down. It will be an uphill task to control the rising radicalism in Bangladesh...I hope they succeed, for the good of this part of the world, but how?

A history book will tell you that Bengal premier muslim league leader Suhrawardi hatched a plan to keep an united Secular Bengal, 3rd independent nation in the Indian subcontinent. His plan was welcomed by Jinnah and was rejected by Congress who even managed to insult Suhrawardi's messenger.

It is always a better idea to read about the topic before preaching it.

1.BD and it's periphery is the abode of around 300 mlln Muslims - the largest such concentration of Muslims anywhere. We may be looking at the beginning of the deadliest crusade waged by Muslims in recent times. Modi - Amit Shah-Doval have totally misread the conditions here. Eastern India may burn and bleed with BD.
2. Let us hope good sense prevail and the dogs of RAW are recalled. Also RAW withdraws its umbrella over SHW/BAL. Only then can BD find some sanity.

India's LOVE Bangladesh policy is certainly an element to radicalize a faction of youth. So, start a hands off policy and the radicalism will not spread to India.

Suhrawarthy was a 'MUSLIM League' leader politically fighting for a 'Muslim country' on religious lines, giving fiery speeches and instigating people on Hindu-Muslim line, and it is reasonable to think that he had his both hands in the 1946 Calcutta riots which stared the series of bloodbath during partition......and he wanted a secular Bengal?? What happened to the Hindus who stayed behind in Bangladesh after partition? Did East Pakistan/Bangladesh and West Pakistan ended up being secular nations where minorities could live freely without any fear and persecution? And how many Bangladeshi Muslims would like to join hands with something like a "Hindu League" if there was any?

Don't change the topic. You first claimed that Muslims divided Bengal which is not true. Now you are accusing Suhrawardi for being communal.. Sheikh Mujib was also a Muslim league leader. How that turned out for Hindus of East Bengal? In case you don't know how Awamileague was born let me remind you It was because Suhrawardi was accused of Serving Bengali separatist sentiment and he was sidelined by Muslim league. As such his followers formed Awami Muslim League..

It is you who are the communal here, not suhrawardi.

and if you want to discuss more of direct action day You are welcome to my thread

It seems Sheikh Mujib thinks Hindus started the riot and If you reply try using a more credible source than Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

If you are implying that Suhrawardy was responsible for the riots you should read Joe's account of him...his father knew him personally...and yes he did want a secular Bengal....it was a joint plan of Suhrawardy and Sarat Chandra Bose....Politics back then was not as Black and White or Hindu and Muslim as you think....there were a lot of interests from different groups involved.

Yes, I read Joe's account of him in that thread, I wanted to reply in that thread, but I barely get much time for long replies nowadays. That account was Suhrawarthy's own statement to Joe Shearer's father with full of loopholes and contradictions (on Suhrawarthy's part. Besides, every accused, whether guilty or innocent would speak in his own defence, that account doesn't prove or disprove anything.

For partition you can blame the kolkata centric Hindu bhadralok class. They were against the advancement of Bengali muslim community from the start.Have you forgot their opposition to establish Dhaka university? Or terrorist activities to nullify the East Bengal and Assam province in 1911? Muslim league establishment was the direct reaction to the hindu bengali opposition towards East Bengal and Assam province.Their contempt and hostility only pushed Bengali muslims towards the separate homeland struggle.

The theory of "Muslim cannot live with Hindus and they need their own separate Muslim country" was pursued by Muslim League, that theory is full of intolerance to their own people of other religions, which I termed as "Religious Nazism". Congress never accepted that "Two nation theory" but succumb to it when riots spread to all over the undivided India starting from 1946 Calcutta Riot, and Suhrawarthy was the Prime Minister of undivided Bengal at that time, and was pitching hard for creation of a Muslim nation 'Pakistan', he floated the idea of undivided Bengal once only to get more land, nothing else. If that had happened, then we the 'once Hindu refugees of Bangladesh in West Bengal' would have to eventually settle somewhere deep in Bihar or Orissa. The partition didn't happen on ethnic lines, it happened on religious lines as per the demand of Muslim League. That was the primary reason, rest is an attempt at whitewashing the history. What is happening now in Bangladesh (or Pakistan) is the result of that seed of intolerance which has only grown bigger.

Not wanting to discuss 'conspiracy theories'. Yes, Hindu Bengalis opposed the attempt of Carzon to divide Bengal on religious lines, not to break it. Separatism on the lines of religion, ethnicity or language is something we Indians don't agree with, and consider as disastrous. Rest of your 'conspiracy theories' were proven false multiple times in this forum, do a search.
