According to the Article 243 of the constitution ,the President who happen to be the supreme commander of the Armed forces gives advice to the PM for any appointments. The official notification below does not mention of any advice taken from the President!!!

It doesn't specify the mode or medium through which the President have to give advice. Legally, i don't think it is much of a problem to handle.

The division is in fact a mini-army, a Divisional Commander should only be promoted to 3-star rank if he is judged to be able to lead the whole army. Therefore all 3-Star Generals are competent for the COAS position.

A new commander brings in new ideas. I am against giving extensions because it also deprives other contenders who may be as good. For example, Raheel Sharif was indeed a good & competent COAS, is Qamar Bajwa not as competent, how do we know that the next one won't be as good or even better?

However, it is a prerogative of the President and since the deed is already done, I congratulate Gen Bajwa and wish him success.

While I am against giving extension but 3 years is less time. It should be 4 years. One year should be compensated earlier. If extension should not have been more than 1 year to 18 months. Since it is done let us move on. He is not Kyani, Bajwa is smart

If you really want to analyse fairly see how he's conducting the state affairs.

Presidential order will be in the Gazette. Nobody is that stupid not to issue an order as per regulations. President is just a signing authority and has to follow PM recommendation.
IK is prettier than NS and Zardari, I do not want him to compare with Altaf as I do mot believe in hero worship. IK has his faults but under the circumstances he is the best option and I believe he will improve things.

that is your opinion my friend and that does not make it right, Chor e azam never got along with Generals because he wanted them to be loyal to him instead of the nation, and army never really trusted him because he was considered a national security risk (imo they were right, its proven now).

Your comment #16 doesn't make sense, according to you PTI is busy "justifying" dictatorship, so is Gen Bajwa suddenly a dictator now just because he got extension?
