Is economics the reason why US is closer to India than Pakistan?

United States is closer to India because the two countries share many beliefs and ideologies - democracy, individual liberty, egalitarianism, and human rights.

It is as simple as that.

I doubt it. Bilateral trade between India and the U.S is quite small at this moment to make a different at all.

Besides, the U.S is not closer to India than Pakistans. Both are pawns to the U.S.

US is India's largest trading partner (2008) with the two countries trading about $42 bil worth of goods and services last year.

I don't think that's a small amount!
