Is democracy a failed concept for non-developed countries?

What timeline do you envisage for various SOuth Asian countries so that they can achieve a minimum level of prosperity? (I mean at the very least middle income like $10,000 GDP per capita nominal..around where China sits today)

Most optimistic outlook would be 30 years from now. It also depends on the ME benchmark of that time.

.
Why do you say it is failed in India ??? India has good economic growth since 2000

Actually democracy is fine in Indonesia. The corruption eradication effort is strong since we embrace democracy. In the past under authoritarian rule, we are really really corrupt.

Indonesia GDP, 1997-2000 Financial Crisis, 1998 the start of democracy

Maybe has nothing to do with democracy. Just Suharto is a bad leader. I think a developing country needs to take some tough decisions like fair land distribution. According to a book I've read, foundation for a developing economy is fair land distribution. This means taking land away from rich land owners and giving it equally to the poor.

Look at Philippines for example. Dictatorship failed them and the democracy came and it failed them even more. Now Philippines has a gini coefficient of over 0.40 and the country has no hope whatsoever.

In contrast countries like Taiwan, Japan got this right and now are developed countries. I think democracy or not you need to have a government that's willing to implement tough policies.

There is failed democracy and failed authoritarian countries as well. The main point is the people who run the system.

Democracy is exported for the sole purpose of keeping the "non-developed"
