Is Chinese KJ-2000 AEW&C, Good for PAF?

The current KJ-2000 AWACS in Chinese service is equipped with a domestic AESA (active electronically scanned array), also known as active phased array, radar. The radar was designed by the Research Institute of Electronic Technology (also more commonly known as the 14th Institute) at Nanjing, and it utilizes the experience gained from the 14th Institute's earlier indigenously developed Type H/LJG-346 SAPARS (Shipborne Active Phased Array Radar System) that was completed in 1998. The same Type H/LJG-346 SAPARS was also the predecessor of the active phased array radar system equipping the PLAN Lanzhou class destroyers). The radar is arranged in the same way as that of the Beriev A-50I. Chinese officials have claimed that the domestic radar is able to track more targets at greater ranges than the Israeli Phalcon radar which was offered in the late 1990.

我認為這是品質較低,比較印度費爾康

KJ-2000 would be an excellent choice, combined with the smaller AEW&Cs, but major issue is that there is no platform currently available to mount the radar system on it.

So once a platform becomes available, then PAF can think about acquiring it.

in picture the platform is available IL 78 r u sure there is no platform

lol no plat form ... it is right infronrt of you :D no it will be good but $$$$$$$$$$$$ too much to maintain better off with kj 200

yes
with current budget i don't think so
but in future insh-allah we will one day

turbo prob are way more economical from turbojet

@ Taimi bhai.

Can this radar be mounted on C-130?

If so PAF can negotiate with UAE for their Used C-130' Hercules , they have 6 of them being replaced as they get their new Air lifters C-130j-30's.

What do you suggest?

Radar of such nature can be mounted on C-130, but not of the size as there is on the Chinese IL-76/78, meaning of a smaller sized radar.

As Y-8 latest variants are in the league of the C-130 models older then the J variant, so not much difference. Hope you have seen the pic of the Y-8 mounted with a KJ-2000 style dome radar fitted which landed at Chaklala AB and whose latest model pic was seen in the AEW&C thread. So no difference in the platforms.

Plus, i believe if we have to use C-130 in such a role, permission from US would be required as the user country can't change the role of the aircraft without permission from the seller, as the aircraft would be inspected by a third party country for modifications & stuff or may even has to be sent to the third part country if facilities not available here. So Y-8/9 platform much better compared to the C-130 one.

Here is one C-130 of USCG in action with a E-2 kind of radar.

Happy to see you posting in Chinese.

To help you avoid errors from google translations, Here is the standard expression:
我认为这比印度费尔康的品质更低。

IL-78 is available but not to us, as its manufactured by Russia, so don't think Russia will easily be selling it to us, with the Indian hue & cry behind it. But if Russia agrees to sell, 4-5 planes converted into KJ-2000 would be best option for us, combined with the smaller AEW&Cs in action.

Other option would be to wait for China to produce their large transport aircraft and buy those and convert them.

The IL-78s that we got as aerial tankers cum transporters are from old Soviet stocks in the Ukrainian arsenal, which got refurbished and sold to us. So those are for some other purpose, can't be changed to the AWAC role.

I hate to say this but UAE airforce is starting to look more modern then our Airforce
