What's new

Is Bangladesh already a Bankrupt country?

Your population vs economic growth seems to be quite wrong. Except America no country ever developed in modern times without an explosion of population.

May I ask you to study the relationship between overpopulation and industrialization to prove me wrong.

You should also know the main reason of mass migration of people from Europe to settle in America.

Europe was overpopulated in the 1600s. This caused the initiation of industrialization and migration of poor Europeans to America. It also initiated trade and colonization.

Three entire Continents as well as South Africa have been populated by Europeans. But, no European leaves his home to settle in other countries. You should ask yourself why it is so now.

The only problem for BD is our greedy politicians are unable to comprehend that people of little overpopulated BD are willing to work hard. But, the govt has been unable to encourage moneyed people to build manufacturing industries.

Stealing the investment money is their choice of action.

Ecology cannot be taken out into the equation. It is the study of how living things affect one another and themselves. The countries with the best living standards have small populations.

Germany & Japan are rare exceptions but even these countries have economic models that can easily be disrupted. What's more their industrialization had minimal affect on their environment.

Nordic countries, Gulf Arab states, New Zealand etc. all have great quality of life because of their small populations and that is because their climates keep them small.

You are the most stupid guy in this forum spewing idiotic thinking as usual. Why do you think Europeans from Poland, France, Ireland or Spain moved from their respective countries if population was low and people were having good standard of living in the 1600s?

Just like you have little knowledges about the world affairs in the immediate past. So, do not waste your time in this thread.

@Bilal9 Bhai

However , there is a problem. Fifa world cup has started , and it's the most vulnerable time in Bangladesh.

People will be diverted easily. So I've doubt of the success of anti govt movement by opposition!

It's hard to believe that Bangladeshi will remain politically careful during world cup football!

I hope BNP to be stronger now because I want a change inside Bangladesh. And BNP still is the only tool to oust BAL. Later a technocrat govt must take place and they must rule 5/10 years to stabilize things. And then I want Gano Odhikat Porishod to win election , so that we can be freed from two family dynasty!

Besides , BNP was failed in 2001 -2006 regime. So BB regime was a failure too. Later BAL came to power in 1996 after 21 years and IMHO it was most fair election in the history of Bangladesh. And BAL did well.

BNP is out from power from 2006 , that means 16/17 years. So why don't give them a chance to repent?

However I actually want Reza kibria to be the PM ( president if presidential form reintroduced) of Bangladesh. He and his kind will do way better than family dynastic uncultured politicians!

Once I wanted the same. But Tbh BAL is far from CCP and nearly doesn't have the capability of CCP members. China and Russia is ruled by wise people , their bureaucrats are expert and we'll trained.

On the other hand Bangladesh has a dirty colonial past , Bangladeshi people aren't as brave as they are falsely introduced! In an extremely corrupted country , Chinese model won't work. It will only benefits some of govt goons and looters. We already saw it.

If we get any mahathir Muhammad or this kind , we can elect him as president for long time. Parliamentary system won't work well here. I want presidential form of democracy , so the audacity of political goons remain under control!

Also if we don't need democracy and have to surrender to specific family , then why did our forefathers revolted against Ayub Khan He also done development, so Ershad did the same thing. Ayub Khan introduced Muslim family laws that is still a safe guard for women and children against Mullahs!

Hasina doesn't have even the courage of making Sunday as weekend of Bangladesh!

@Tom-tom

Your not living in the real world, any short term gov will either just be sitting and placid and not really active in running the country ( just on auto pilot.) Or they will be looking to pocket as much money as they can In their own pockets.

This 2 years of stagnant auto pilot growth or sabotage.

Then once the technocrat comes into power they will spend another 2- 5 yrs undoing the mess that bnp made.

That's 7 yrs maximum wasted.

Bangladesh had some really chance to become a lower developed country in the next couple of decades. Wasting 7 years of crucial time is not going to do this!

There are something called cool down period and Bangladesh desperately needs it.

Also we must need a third party like PTI in Pakistan!

We can't be hostage of two families.

Also we need presidential form of democracy ( when we revive democracy) !

So let's wait and observe who is living in real world or not.

Let's respectfully agree to disagree here. Thanks and best regards!

Please tell me how do you expect BD to become a semi-developed country when it is unable even to produce a pair of nuts and bolts, let alone railway coaches, steel lines or locomotives.

Hasina has borrowed money to import even these things. It is no recipe for development. Her brand of development has failed all the Banana republics, Pakistan and SL.

Ad hominem. Those countries experienced wars, occupations and other issues that you keep leaving out. Why don't you get a reality check and see Bangladesh for what it is?

All that economic growth did little for your country and you know it. The most densely populated country, one of the poorest and dirtiest. This harping economic growth is just a means to distract people from the truth.

There's Nordic countries & Baltic countries that have smaller GDPs than you. They must be dying of jealousy from your economic growth. You circulate more money. Like wow...

Some deshis are so deluded, they are happy to cut their nose off to spite their face.

Apparently all progress in BD is because of private enterprise and all bad is because of government. The idiocy to imagine that private businesses care about the good of citizens!

Without a progressive business environment and a stable govt like Hasinas - BD business will go down the drain. As will the economy - years of development undone. And the ones who will suffer will be Bangladeshis, while the idiot commentators sit abroad.

Once AL is gone - and it will go one day - every wolf and jackal will get their chance to fill their pockets.

Better see the reality instead of living in delusion. BD is not developing anytime. Please send me pictures of a single pair of nuts&bolts, a pair of HSB or a pair of HTB made in Golden Bangladesh and claim it is developing.

If you have no clues about these small HSB and HTB, please accept that you have intellectual deficiencies to talk about a country’s development.

It is Indonesia and India, not BD, which have been consistently developing for decades. Learn that borrowing dollars to build a few showcase structures is no development.

The govt and the BAL party are full of your kind of ignominious people. No wonder, BD cannot develop.

Now, answer HSB and HTB and tell which companies can produce them.

*please tell also what is an Anchor Bolt and what are its uses? Learn before you repeat your claim of BD development.

Manufacture all these small things in the country. The more varieties and more in quantity you produce, the world will accept BD is continuously developing.

Bernie Madoff would still be in business if 2008 financial crisis did not cause investors try to take their money out.
Madoff basically failed the stress test.
Pendimic stressed Bangladeshi economics............

You do the math.

Just saying....

So only BAL saints doesn't fill their pockets right? It looks you guys are more Christian than pope himself!

Quick rental plan extended 5 more years in 2021! The only great achievement of BAL was electricity , and still all are based on very costly quick rental power plant!

Is that any sustainable development? They have extended it for looting from subsidy .

In this 14 years BAL could make power plants , still they are dependent on quick rental , that was for emergency situation and no more than 2 years.

Actually looters will extend the quick rental again if they remain in power.

But you guys ( BAL cronies) are too blind and delusional to see it!

Sometimes it is better to judge a political party by their long term actions rather than propaganda, make-believe and hearsay.

If BNP went off and did Indian chamcha-giri, I would not consider giving them any support or votes.

Having other parties come to power does not mean the country will be any less stable or that - that party will govern any less effectively.

Above all - we should support entities who have OUR COUNTRY'S DEVELOPMENT, ECONOMIC PROSPERITY and INTERESTS IN MIND, rather than selling them off to another country, so they can use and exploit us any way they like. Talking about India which has been exploiting us for at least fifty years, and most of them with Hasina as their accessory and complicit in that crime.

That is the crux of the issue and question.

We should not support a party just because my cousin's brother's bhairabhai is a minister, or because they support people of my religion, or any number of other things. The future of our country is in question here. Not that of India or Indians.

We should keep our collective eyes on the Ball. Meaning what is good for us.

This is very clear to people in Western countries but unfortunately very muddled to Bangladeshis both at home and abroad.

Well the past track records of each party is all we can go by.

And I have witnessed personally the mismanagement and corruption of BNP.

They also ushered in an era of terrorism and violence that was thankfully ended in AL rule.

You may say AL is doing Indian chamcha-giri - I'm sure there is truth in that. But it's also true that BNP fostered Pakistani / ISI infiltration.

The outcome of Pakistani ideology is plain to see in Pakistan.

I will let Pakistanis be the judge of what is going on in Pakistan, that is more for them to worry about. Pakistan and Bangladesh have been separate countries for fifty years now.

However Indian chamcha-giri right now is doing irreparable harm to Bangladesh economy. Right now. And for the last fifty years. We are solely supporting India's development and certainly not ours.

Being Indian chamchas, we will never grow our own industrial capability. We will always be importing basic stuff like nuts/bolts, even "pereks" (nails). Just because they are cheaper in a larger economy like India.

A protected independent economy with protective tariff support is what we need when we are in an economic growth trajectory.

I honestly don't care who is in power, if they can pursue independence in foreign (and especially economic) policy and not halt the economic progress, as we are currently the economic leader in South Asia.

I don't think AL being the bunch of incompetent cadre goonda leaders they are (judging by their immature/comical statements), are capable of carrying us further up the economic ladder. They must do a purge and bring in capable, educated technocrats to run the country properly.

Or we should vote for another party who can offer this stability/growth capability.

@EasyNow , I hope you can read Bengali unlike some of by birth British Bangladeshi here.

Here is your development. For the first time this is happening in the history of Bangladesh!

@Bilal9 , ভাই দেখেন।বাপের জন্মে যেটা শুনি নাই, সেইটা এখন দেখতে হচ্ছে!
