IRIN to purchase Orion-20 Ekranoplanes from Russia

Not sure, as these Orion-20's are under development still.
what is the range of it?

Ekranoplans are a key asset in the IRGC naval doctrine for ferrying troops quickly in the Persian Gulf, and also as offensive platforms for anti-ship missiles. Nothing sarcastic about this at all. These fast Ekranoplans will replace the obsolete and very slow Shah era hovercrafts in the military transport/ logistics and assault roles.

Did you write these seriously or sarcastically?

We have an outdated Air Force which means these planes won't get any air support which means they have the exact zero chance to reach countries like Qatar, UAE and Bahrain, So obviously they are not going to use these planes to occupy those countries. They are probably going to use these plane to transport ppl to Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf that don't have any airports.

I always liked thd flexibility of planes that can just land at sea and chill out for few hours

u are delusional!........Iran has barely even factored in air force in its strategic calculations. Millions of medium/ long range surface to surface missiles fill the gap. The only way to stop Iran is to nuke it..........nothing else will make any difference (in case u haven't noticed)

First of all the time of occupying the other countries has passed, this is what only superpowers can do. Saddam Hussein couldn't occupy Iran, We couldn't occupy Iraq and now Saudi Arabia can't occupy Yemen. Today's wars are limited to destroying the enemy's military capability and infrastructures. So you can forget about occupying SA, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain and etc.
Second of all we factored in the air force in our calculations because due to sanctions our government couldn't buy new aircraft, so their propaganda machine is spreading this "Missiles can fill the gap" narrative. They are basically saying it's true that we don't have an air force, but we have ballistic missiles and they are multi role. We have surface to surface ballistic missiles, we have surface to air ballistic missiles, we have anti ship ballistic missiles, we have anti radar ballistic missiles, we have anti tank ballistic missiles, we have anti infantry ballistic missiles, every application you that you name we have a ballistic missile for it. I hate it to break it to you but these missiles can't fill the gap, it's the government's propaganda and the fact that you are bringing that up means that you have no idea on how these things work and just read too much Mashreghnews.ir articles. I'll put some articles for you, they may help you come out of your delusions. BTW we don't have Millions and Millions of missiles, do you have any idea how much that costs? Do you think we have enough launchers to fire this amount of missiles?

sounds like u are now clutching at straws? How can 20 or so ekranoplans be used to occupy sawdi/ qatar/ bahrain/ UAE? However, these will be used in amphibious roles and either replace or supplement the old hovercrafts.........All the rest of your blabber is your own anxiety. lol

Despite the lowest defense budget in the Persian Gulf, Iran occupies 4 arab countries by proxy. In your little world, if it means physical occupation, then you are probably living in the 80's bache jang lifestyle.......lol

Firstly it was you that came up with this occupying story, it seems that you have forgotten it, let me help your memory:
Vostok, these Ekranoplan are needed by Iran navy to launch quick amphibious assaults across the Persian Gulf to carry special forces and hold/ occupy territory, before more forces are moved by regular ships later! Personally I would have been happier if Beriev resurrect the Alexiev bureau massive Caspian Sea Monster or Loon with the Moskit for IRIN......:guns:

IRIN plan to occupy Qatar, UAE and Bahrain quickly with Ekranoplan is taking shape fast.:sniper:Time to radically expand the killing fields for wahabbi and zionists........:guns:

Iran the 'old painless' plans and acts......we make the experience painless.....!:guns:
Secondly you are the most delusional person that i've ever seen in this forum and after reading your last comment i'm sure you are reading too much Mashreghnews.ir, if you have no idea of how military works you shouldn't register in a military forum and start writing bullsh*t.

@Tokhme khar, millions of ballistic missiles? Do you even consider the simple manpower needed to man that? Iran has no air force to speak of, so no air cover. Iran has no naval power aside from old stuff. If Iran were to send ekranoplanes to transport an initial wave, that would require hundreds of those planes and that is if they manage to get there . An Iranian IRGC mechanized brigade is about 5000 personnel, how many ekranoplanes would take to transport them? What about logistics? Ammo, water, food, fuel, vehicles, spares, repair units need to be moved. That is just a brigade. You mention that ekranoplanes would move initial force and rest will land by traditional methods, unfortunately the distance from Iran to the other shore would become a graveyard for iranians. Consider that Iran has not invaded or even been aggressive toward another nation in centuries. Iran does not invade and all their military strength is barely enough to provide a basic defense of the country. Iran plans to use its strategic depth to fight enemies however that kind of thinking does not match with modern military doctrine. What iran needs is stability, get rid of corruption and dishonest politicians, get religion out of political life of the country and Iran will truly be an incredibly successful nation as you have a huge potential which is stifled by mullahs and corruption. Once your country has achieved that economic jump, you can build up your diplomatic relations and also develop your military.

Bear in mind that I in no way I'm stating iran is that weak but just look at the structure and composition of the Iranian force. They have a defensive force. That is because iranian military planners and decision mskers planning was based on defending rather than attacking.

Ekranoplanes cannot replace Hovercrafts. IMHO Iran needs to pay more attention to developing new hovercrafts. Ekranoplanes would be used for logistics and transport outside battlefields
