What's new

IRIAF | News and Discussions

This plane intrigues me because it seems shorter in length than the kowsar and when you look at its rear design, it seems to carry a single engine.

never saw such low resolution photo of kowsar assembly line , i say don't read too much into it that easily can be the result of low resolution and lack of detail.
Agree

Can't quite make out if those wings are delta's or not.

Comments, anybody?

This plane will have a new radar, elements of artificial intelligence, new electronics, that has already been said. And it's clear that they use special paint to reduce its radar signature. The plane on the right of the photo is also new. This long body aircraft is truly special and one of a kind
Greetings

Fully agree with your first sentence. Regarding the last two sentences ...plane on the right .... and ...The long body aircraft... does this refer to the pic above with an RD-xx been tested, and to the right the 'long body' a/c.

Regarding the last, would this represent a stretched Borhan B92 trainer/CAS.

Salutations

Really special this plane with a long body and delta wings
its not technically a delta wing, its a traditional trapezoid wing + LERX
it help delay the stall by controlling the airflow over the wings , its part of the design that F-5, F-18, and Kowsar inherited from N-156 platform

The inner circular wing looks a lot like the old Eurasia / Mukhamedov designs albeit not as prominent.

I managed to tease out some clarity at least of the intakes of the model exhibited in the TV interview, above, viz:-

What would happen if the V tailplanes are replaced by a single vertical one?

And, what are the possibilities of the above a/c having any connection to the following image (cropped here):

Thanks, but just in short to your last question: "And, what are the possibilities of the above a/c having any connection to the following image (cropped here):"

IMO none, the one below is clearly a F-5 / HESA Azarakhsh.

Thank, thus F-5 + F-20 on steroids + indigenous F-5 based iterations,+ Kowsar + its single seater with a single A/B RD-XX of 20 000lbs (~88,9 kN) per the Supreme Leaders 2018 directive, plus possibly delta wings. Lets call these wing Iranian Advanced Combat Wings (IACW) for now. Not clear however if these wings remember those intended for
Project Shahid Erfanian.
