exactly if you want to bomb ground targets just buy chinese drones, no need for an expensive fighter to pop 2 people with a pickup truck, i think this deal is more about rebuilding the airforce and ensuring airspace control

Yeah unfortunately that's how Iraq functions. They need a strong personality to unite them.

Iran doesn't have a great air force ergo their overreliance on drones

Turkey is a NATO member so a war with them means Article 5 will be invoked

Israel? Rafale is not a form of credible deterrence against a nuclear armed state. You'll need nuclear weapons in such a conflict.

But lets ignore the above for argument sake and assume Iraq is going to war with Iran, Turkey and Israel.

In such scenario, Iraq will need a large enough air force to counter 250-300 Israeli fighter jets. Will France sell 500 of its most capable Rafale variants to Iraq? Can you be assured of parts/support in wartime against Israel?

Throwing money at something is not a solution. If money was the answer then Muammar Gaddafi will be alive today and possibly flying Rafales.
