Iraq parades T-90S main battle tank

The Iraqi military publicly displayed recently delivered T-90S main battle tanks during the 98th anniversary of the country’s Armed Forces on 6 January.

Several newly acquired Russian-made T-90S tanks, belong to the 35th Brigade of the Iraqi Army’s 9th Armored Division, were displayed for the first time during the military parade.

According to the Jane’s Defence Weekly, 39 new T-90S tanks had been handed over to the 35th Brigade of the 9th Armoured Division to equip two battalions.

Iraq ordered 73 T-90S MBTs and T-90SK command tanks with special vehicles for repair and transported.

The T-90S is the latest development in the T-series of Russian tanks and represents an increase in firepower, mobility and protection. It is manufactured by Uralvagonzavod in Nizhnyi Tagil, Russia.

The T-90S main battle tank is a new-generation weapon system developed drawing on lessons learned from combat use of tanks in Syria, Ukraine and local conflicts, studies and analysis of their field service and intensive trials.

A U.S.-trained Iraqi crew working with a U.S.-supplied M1A1 Abrams tank now known as the "Beast" played a major role in taking and clearing the town of Hit in western Anbar province of ISIS fighters, a U.S. military spokesman said Wednesday.

"It's become a bit of a folk hero" to the Iraqi Counter-Terror Services and regular Iraqi army troops who drove militants affiliated with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, from Hit and are now engaged in clearing operations in the Euphrates valley town, Army Col. Steve Warren said of the tracked vehicle.

"The tank has been so successful, this one tank crew, that American advisers have given it the 'Hero of the Day' award for several days," said Warren, a spokesman for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve in Baghdad.

You are not mentioning how they abandoned them when ISIS came into town without anything else besides small arms. Age has no correlation to someone's intelligence hence why 16 year olds and younger are in Harvard while many older people have never gone to college. The export version is trash I agree but the American version is fairly good saying its 40 years old and can compete which much newer designed Russian and Chinese tanks. I wonder how Americas next MBT will do but most likely will shart on the competition.

ISF didn't outnumber ISIS 15:1 in Mosul 2014, that was the number of soldiers on paper. See 'ghost soldiers Iraqi army'. IS had heavy presence in Mosul before the 2014 takeover, the years prior they already ran a mafia style underground network there and the security forces were fading as the ruling governor Nujaifi was hostile to the central gov.

Why were the number of soldiers on paper so high? Obviously the people were either corrupt or receiving a paycheck while doing nothing. That's besides the point even if it was not 15:1 it was still in favor of the Iraqi forces and they shouldn't have lost. If 2000 American soldiers had been there they would have been able to defeat ISIS with ease. Again age is irrelevant when it comes to knowledge like I said before someone can know many more things than some double or triple their age no matter what bs people told you about your elders.
