no one can prevent a country from acquiring defensive weapons. iran got it's s-300 years ago.

they refused russian s-400 offer because of domestic bavar system.

well they said it's gonna be 1.5 better than s-300, and last year they hit a ballistic missile with it in a test. it's almost all we know and also they said they will unveil it this year.

yes we refused S 400. " Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said the country is not going to purchase the Russian-made S-400 air defense missile system, though Moscow has offered to sell it to Tehran. During his press conference in Tehran, the defense minister confirmed that Russia has offered Iran "S-400 and some other systems," but Tehran currently had no plans to order them. "

Bavar-373 is a long-range mobile air defense system Iran launched the project in 2009 _ 2010, system is 1.5 times more advanc and powerful than the Russian S-300 PMU 2 in terms of defense against aircraft and cruise missiles. it use three local radar and missile systems with a range of over 200 km and 40 km and 30 km altitude with high maneuverability and fully indigenous, Bavar-373 missile defense system uses two or three types of missiles to confront aerial targets in different layers Bavar-373 system uses a phased array radar like Russian 96L6 radar for tracking aerodynamic targets and ballistic missiles in medium to long ranges, mounted on the (10x10) ZOLJANAH heavy truck.



S-300 PMU 2, LEMZ 96L6 radar maximum detection range is 300 km and it can track up to 100 targets simultaneously.

Bavar-373, Meraj 4 radar maximum detection range is +500 km and it can track up to 200 targets simultaneously.

S-300 PMU 2, 48N6E2 missile with a range of 200 km, and altitude ranging up to 28 km.

Bavar-373, Sayyad 2c and Sayyad 3c and Sayyad 4 missiles with a range of ~120 km and ~200 km and ~250 km, and altitude ranging up to 27 km and 30 km and 40 km.

thanks for the detailed reply. hopefully it tracks the targets with different band and frequencies using different set of radars to negate the EW and stealth features of modern jets., I am hoping that North Korea does something extremely drastic and Americans have to run to Japan and South Korea and leave our region alone.

Russians are not doing anymore than lip service. they want the Americans to bleed and exhaust after opening another war front here and will only come once Americans are fully committed . just like in Syria they took their time until it was partially taken over by Daesh, FSA and Jamat Al Nusrah terrorists.

I respect the resolve and nationalism of Iranians, its proven up to the time of the written history and beyond but I worry for the loss of life and turmoil that naked aggression of America and its shameless allies will bring to our region, I keep on saying our region because Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq will be equally affected indirectly.

Thanks. i hope the first destination for this system would be Pakistan. yes, i totally agree with you, no western country would drop a tear if a Muslim is killed in our region, they just act like they do.

and Iran received them eventually. Iraq can still push its S400 purchase through IF Iraq is determined to get it.

i doubt the americans will allow this, unless Iraq doubles down, tells them to f off, and weathers whatever consequence comes their way.

these could potentially be a threat to Zionist and American planes and give Iraq more control over its own airspace (currently de-facto owned by the US of A, with trump not even consulting the Iraqis before visiting apparently)

other equipment okayed by Washington is not a threat to their beloved Zionists so they approved those.
