Iraq: Bomb attack on bus carrying 24 Pakistani pilgrims

Iraqi officials say a roadside bomb blast outside Baghdad has injured 24 Pakistani pilgrims. Their bus overturned as it headed to a Shiite shrine.

Police say the bomb exploded Sunday evening as the bus was passing by the predominantly Sunni suburb of Saqlawiyah, located 75 kilometers (45 miles) west of Baghdad.

The bus was filled with Pakistani pilgrims who were headed from Syria to the gold-domed shrine to a Shiite imam in the northern Baghdad neighborhood of Kazimiyah.

A medical employee at a nearby hospital says 19 passengers were hurt by the blast, and another five were wounded when the bus overturned.

All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to reporters.

Extremist sunni islam: the gift that just keeps on giving. 24 people killed just because they were shia.

suicide bombings, road side bombings, targetted killings, racism, secterianism, tribalism, demented ideologies... These wahabis/salafis only know how to destroy and kill.

pakistan doesn't care they are after all shia's killed by saudi funded terrorists.
most likely the culprits were actual saudis

Iraq needs to seriously clamp down on it's sunni area's or get a different route before the bus goes to karabala.

Regardless in the future what happens to irans current regime or not Iraq-Iran will have really close relations, Iran could do more to protect it's shia's and just staying in iraq and staying out of the arab-israeli conflict.

Well, a lot of the terrorists are actually foreigners. Iraq can only do so much. In the Kurdish areas an arab sticks out, but in the rest of the country, the terrorists can blend in.

It's mainly the sunnis who are funded by saudi arabia, Iran could offer help to stop saudi weaponry and bomb material from getting into Iraq.

The Kurds and the Shia's have excellent relations civilians I do believe Iran should offer some help regardless.

It's amazing how you people are blaming the symptoms and not the root.
All these attacks are directly due to the illegal American invasion.

And RIP to the innocent civilians.

what can Iran do? Anything we do will just be portrayed as Iran taking over Iraq or some bs like that. The best way is to have a period of 'cleansing.' Foreign arabs should be controlled and stopped from coming into the country (unless checked throughly). Known Iraqi terrorists and sympathizers should be executed on mass and pressure should be put on any group that is remotely wahabi/salafi in nature. Iraq needs to get control of the country the same way the kurds have gotten control of the Kurdish areas in Iraq.

And it's amazing how you're being so simple. Saddam was keeping a lid on everything. The hatred and secterianism was there. And was it the Americans who were gassing shias and Kurds??? You seem to have a very selective memory. So the same thing was going on back then on even a bigger scale.

btw, most of these suicide bombers and terrorists aren't even Iraqi sunnis. They come from the surrounding arab countries and North Africa.

Yeap, their leader had a famous saying: “Take the Kurds under your tanks, and save your bullets for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.” Today the kurds and shia Iraqis are taking their revange.
