Iran's new government scraps all oil and gas concessions to India.

I think there is an element of truth in emercom's claim:

UK Prime Minister David Cameron inadvertently forced India to take a declared position on the US proposal to invade Syria, limited or otherwise. After a long bout of silence, New Delhi was shocked on the eve of general elections, to find that the British government had listed it as one of the countries supporting US military action against Syria. it had been listed by the British government as one of the countries supporting US military action.
The mandarins controlling foreign policy realized that the silence, made even more fashionable by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, was not working to India’s advantage and fielded the MEA spokesperson to clarify that the government was certainly not supporting the proposed limited strike on Syria. A very delayed, and subdued reaction, at a time when the non-aligned world had expected big country India to come out in support of rights and justice. And yet another example of the mealy mouthed approach that has come to define Indian foreign policy, where old friends have been discarded but new friends still not really found except for the US and Israel who continue to cast a heavy shadow on most Indian foreign policy and even defence responses.

Here is what a member Tshering said :

He was pressured by the Indian opposition.

Earlier this month, his party had issued statement that the government will support US attack.

It was the opposition that forced his party to change their stupid stand. Don't take this man seriously. He has ruined the economy of his homeland and only outrage from people has forced him to say this.

Seems India changed its stand due to general elections coming and fear that opposition will portray India as a western puppet regime that Manmohan Singh is making it.

India would go along with UN decision on Syria: Khurshid - Rediff.com India News

It is surprising that India said that it would support a UN decision to attack syria ,considering that the opposition is Al Qaeda. The same Al Qaeda which India has been fighting in Kashmir. After Libya ,does India al qaeda to win?The current strategy will balkanize India . Indian people better do a coup or replace Congress in 2014 elections.Or India is in for big pain when the time comes.

This thread has become a Pakistan vs India thing? @Serpentine Please...

I think IRAN should make a deal with Pakistan on Oil and Gas....

India and China should try to make up deals with Qatar and Saudi Arabia for getting oil and LNG...

There is enough oil and gas for everyone! :coffee: As long as they're willing to pay! :P

Oil minister Bijan N Zangeneh, it is learnt, told Indian ambassador D P Srivastava on September 1 that Tehran would not accept the entire payment for crude oil imported by India in rupees as agreed in July.

Seriously. Iran needs to make up its mind. First saying yes, and then saying no. WTH?

They anyway trade with us so much in non-oil commodities. Rupee payments will make it so much more easier for this trade to increase.

They won't accept dollars because 'US the great Satan";

Iran, he said, needed help in resolving the problem with getting 55 per cent payment in euros, which was being routed through Turkey's Halkbank, and ended in February. Zangeneh wants India to renegotiate the terms and revert to majority euro payment.

They can't accept Euros because Uncle Sam has threatened Europeans scared to not allow; Turkey was the last resort however, despite their independent policies, they had to bow down to European pressure and they are not to be blamed for it.

The man seems to forget that Europeans also have pressurized Turkey to not allow Euro transactions.

The other options are through Russian Rouble. We don't have any other foreign exchange reserve to pay for oil.

How do they want their payment then?

How can anyone trade with so many sanctions? They won't listen even a tiny bit to the people who control global currency; they won't budge from their position and when a friendly country is asking to trade with them in the local currency only to make it easier for their own bilateral trade, they won't want it.

Guys, stick to topic ,this is not an India vs Pakistan thread.

I think IRAN is quite good for Pakistan but for India they have to look towards NATO policies now before making deals and it would be 100% in their favor to go for Saudi, Oman or anyone else other than Iran for Oil and gas.
