Launch of Iranian Satellite Marks Enemies’ Intelligence Defeat: Top General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The enemies of the Islamic Republic, the US in particular, have suffered a big intelligence defeat following the recent successful launch of an Iranian satellite into orbit, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said.

Speaking at a military gathering in Tehran on Saturday, Major General Baqeri said the IRGC’s success to launch a multipurpose satellite into the orbit is an outstanding example of smart planning with reliable scientific and technical backings.

The launch of homegrown Noor satellite amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus shows that while the Iranian Armed Forces are playing a role in the battle with COVID-19, they have not neglected the strategy of boosting the country’s power, the general added.

Major General Baqeri also hailed the satellite launch as a prelude to a shift in the balance of power in favor of the Iranian nation.

The great and historical achievement of Iran marked a big “intelligence defeat and scandal” for the enemies of Iran, particularly for the terrorist regime of the United States, the commander noted.

The IRGC successfully put Noor (light) into orbit on April 22. The homegrown satellite was launched with a three-stage satellite carrier, dubbed Qassed (messenger), from a launch pad in Dasht-e Kavir, a large desert in central Iran.

The satellite has been placed into an orbit 425 kilometers above the Earth.

This means that there are only the Salman-1 solid propellant second stage and the Noor-1 satellite orbiting the Earth.

And from the Mission Control screen, we know that following the second stage's ignition at T=150 seconds, a third burn was performed at T=420 seconds:

2. Flight Profile Qased-e-Noor-1 on 22nd April 2020.

Another screen of the Mission Control shows that there is a liquid propellant tank feeding 6 engine nozzles, and it is this final unit that has circularized the satellite's orbit:

3. 伊朗“努尔一号”冷气推进系统。

From the mission logo, it is obvious that the 6 engine nozzles are those fitted on the Noor-1 satellite itself and not a third orbital insertion kick-stage, the Israeli Samson satellite being fitted with 4 engine nozzles:

The article is wrong. It claims that the Qased-e-Noor-1 space launcher has a third stage.

1. Internet speculations on the Qased-e-Noor-1 space launcher. 2020.

But from day one on 22nd April 2020, until today, the 13rd MAY, or 3 weeks after the orbital insertion into LEO, no such third object has ever been reported by the U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

From the mission logo, it is obvious that the 6 engine nozzles are those fitted on the Noor-1 satellite itself and not a third orbital insertion kick-stage, the Israeli Samson satellite being fitted with 4 engine nozzles:

From the mission logo, it is obvious that the 6 engine nozzles are those fitted on the Noor-1 satellite itself and not a third orbital insertion kick-stage, the Israeli Samson satellite being fitted with 4 engine nozzles:

Its exactly what I think about Qased , I believe the rocket have two stage and what is called third stage is actually the satellite itself correcting ts orbit.
but honnestly the evidence are equal for both 2 stage and 3 stage rockets.

Looks 3 stages to me

if its 3 stage both 2nd stage and 3rd stage are very small , wonder why bother with this configuration and not use a larger 2nd stage . that would have make it a lot simpler and less prone for failure

3rd stage of course will be small as it is a kick mortor for orbital insertion.

Yes, Salman would be nothing more than a 3rd stage insertion on a more powerful SLV. Salman itself isn’t a big motor. But it respects a leap in Iran’s capability if it can scale it to a larger size.

What Iran needs is what it needed 10 years ago:

A more powerful 1st stage (still not completed) and powerful 2nd stage (still not completed) a powerful 3rd stage is completed (Salman).

Im not sure why Iran didn’t use a Sejil-2 first stage instead of Ghadr (Shahab-3 first stage).

I remember when Iran launched Omid in 2009, NK launch of Unha 2 failed in 2009. It looked like, Iran is teaching them the missile technology and the flow of education is reversed.

Even after the successful Unha 3 in 2012, we see western papers calling the satellite a tumbling failure and the design to be Iranian. Remember this?

حالا فک میکنم ما پنج سال از کره شمالی عقب ایم.
به نظر نمیاد ایران و کره شمالی خیلی با هم همکاری میکنند

The current Iran satellite maybe infact be tumbling. An amateur observer who has been providing information on it along with others have noticed varying degrees of brightness when the object passes by overhead. This indicates the satellite itself is rotating and thus reflecting different levels of light (brightness) as the sunlight hits different angles on the satellite and reflects back towards Earth.

Now wether that rotation is by design or in fact it is because it is “Tumbling” is unknown.

Im sure the US Air Force super SECERT X plane might check it out when it heads back into space or it might not even be deemed threatening enough to be a bother.

Also Unha 3 was a garbage SLV. It’s “success” was hardly successful and the design was another Shahab-3/No-Dong underwhelming effort. NK soon found out it would be tough to improve and scale the launcher to be anything more than a microsat potato launcher. Iran is still messing around with that idea over 10 years after its own tiny microsat launch.

As a the basis for a future ICBM, it was way too big and immobile. Thus somewhere along there NK pivoted away and got their hands on RD-250 technology.

You know, I have learnt a few more things since 2009.

One is to mistrust western estimates about their enemies like what is posted here. Piece of garbage:

https://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htspace/20130131.aspx#foo

This paper is worthless and NK satellite never fell back to earth. It is still orbiting.

These twitter nerds will not be my sources. Many of them say Noor is functional. I bet you can find some who will disagree.

There is a learning curve and you will not be perfect on your first shots.

It will not need an expert to tell me Iran’s first shot was not perfect.

After last Simorgh launch failure in Feb there were words that there would be another launch by Khordad with new brand SLV called "Zoljanah" .. now as we getting close to Khordad and we have already seen a space launch I am confused that was Qased project initially called Zoljanah or it's whole another project 'cause it was also said Zoljanah is gonna be a Solid SLV .. or Qased which used liquid for its first stage was a bed test for 2nd and 3rd stages of Zoljanah which is gonna be all solid?

Qased was the build up to Zoljanah.

Iran cannot vacuum-test it's engine because it cannot afford vacuum testing equipment. So the decision was made to test the second and third stage on a liquid-fuelled Ghadr first stage.
