A big mistake and waist of recourses!!!!!!!!!
Will the Shafaq be superior to the Saegheh? Doubt it! So what the hell is the point!
If you wanna start investing billions in the production model of any fighter 1st off it has to Superior in Speed, Range, Payload Capability, Maneuverability, Weapons System, RCS,... & yes Shafaq will have a greater range but in every other aspect it's inferior! So not worth the cost!
If your investing in a new Air Frame design for the future of your Air Force then u need to set clear requirements that takes into account the Aircraft it will be replacing & build something superior.
1.Aircraft must have 2 engines & combined thrust equal too or greater than the F-4
2.Aircraft must have an internal weapons by & this is NOT hard at all!
3.Aircraft must have a range = to or greater than the F-4 with Air refueling capabilities
4.Aircrat must have BVR capabilities
5.Aircraft must have built in IRST
6.Aircraft must redundant systems & be capable of withstanding an EMP
7Aircraft must have no vertical surfaces & reduce RCS
etc. etc.
Would the Shafaq be able to replace Iranian F-4's, F-1's, F-14, MiG-29's or Su-24's? Will it even be able to go up against the F-16 or J-10? The answer is NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!
Iran needs to STOP wasting time on building single engine fighters incapable of beating it's current fighters let alone going up against a future fighter!
