Nice to see this. But they need to focus more on R&D with Russia and China for developing more marine vessels for Commercial and Military purposes.

Iran is alone... Even so called close countries like Russia and China are under the influence of Western pressures when it comes to helping Iran... Iran is all alone and have no choice but to make it to the top depending on its own....

Even when there is some device or system needed for Iranian navy or other industries, Iran has to acquire it in black market... Russia and China both are enemies of Iran when it comes to wishing her good luck with science and tech...

it's 15 years that Russia wanna deliver S-300 , and still there are someone who beleives it's gonna happen ...

Nice ship, reminds me of Piri Reis Oceanographic research ship built in 1978.

Oceanographic research vessels show the similiarity among them, in the moderate level . The hardship of design isnt the looking and deck area as in naval vessels, its mostly equipping the ship with mechanical systems such as cranes , rigs and docking equipments and their sub systems. On the other hand the struggle isnt hard as in tugboats which needs to keep Lenght/Beam ratio and small as possible in size , This vessels are flexible in size but have a need of acc. and storage , life supplying systems with labs.

So thats quite normal these ships look like each other, btw is it and ocean-going ship ?

Anyone in here has idea about Classification society of iran ? AKA Lloyd of iran

Not aware of such a thing. Even if there is one it has certainly not been put to good use. For example, this whole Iranian destroyer issue. In Persian, they refer to any naval ship as "Nav shekan". Thus, they can translate nav shekan to either frigate or destroyer. That's why you see some English Iranian news Sites refer to small ships like Jamaran etc as destroyer. Even though, even in English the definition of a destroyer is quite murky and arbitrary, a 1400 ship is not what one would consider a destroyer. This is all due to this whole "Nav shekan" translation.

YES, it is an ocean going ship and will have research trips to Indian Ocean. Another research ship is under construction that will be twice as big +100 m and will handle researchers needs in its root from Chabahar, Iran to Antarctica.

The ship can travel 5000 km or 40 days non stop without needing fuel resupply. It does not need water supply as it has on board sea water desalination machines.. It can home 27 personnel including 16 Scientists and 11 crew.

It has 4 labs including 2 wet and 2 dry labs. All its sensors, instruments and systems are designed and built by local companies and can perform Physical, chemical, Geologic, Environmental, Weather research, Sea bio and other research operations.

"Persian Gulf" Explorer ship is equipped with a desalination system, Dynamic Re-positioning System (that holds the ship stand still in certain place for tests and measurements) and two side and deep mapping and sensing sonars.

The ship can cruise at 15 knots/h and is powered by two engines: one is 1900 kw and other one is 1030 kw. It uses two 400 kw generators and one spare 85 kw generator. It has the safety up to Force 6 sea condition and can perform research at Force 3.

Later i have seen the video of its construction and i found out that , it may not go higher than sea state 5 . Also antarctica ,its not polar research ship , it is an oceanograpic research , which means to take samples of water, and shape out the sea bed by using ROVs ,sonars. Structurally this ship isnt an ice-class ship , its painting also not .

Yet about DP ,dynamic positioning, you cant have such system by a classic fixed pitch propeller system and one bow thruster ,there should be a podded system, or Z drive ,with one/two bow thruster and one stern thruster . Also it should be electric / diesel drive to provide sudden thrust needs.

I think you just had a dream that it will go to antarctica :) also about DP it seems the person who talked about , doesnt have clear information of it.

For polar research ship ,its useless to design and built that ship its continous trips not projected. Had better to supply the short term needs by renting ship ,or going with other countries . Most of EU does it, or china also ,or even russia.
