Well, I believe they will use Russian engines for these designs(100 and 150 seat passenger planes).

1)Iranian Aviation Industries Organization and Aerospace Industries Organization(which are parts of MOD-aerospace division works on missiles) are responsible for building engines.

2)Since 2005 Iran has been building Toloue-4(Toloo 4) turbojet which is a copy of TRI60(3.7 kn) then there is Toloue-5 and some others, Meshkat cruise missile(2000 km range) will also have an Iranian engine.

Iran have been also working on a turbofan version of J-85 engine.

after wasting and suspending the project for 6 years, in hope (delusion) of buying planes from their masters, Rouhani finally decided to prioritize the R&D for acquiring critical technologies for a 100-150 seat passenger jet.


Other prioritized national projects includes:
-Localization and developing of subsurface technologies
-Acquisition of technology for the design, construction and testing of a cold propulsion of space engines
-comprehensive plan for the development of technologies required for equipping and updating the radar network of national air defense system

mc-21 is out there by irkut...technology cooperation between Iran and Russia or license production, if Russian. insists... that aircraft will be ready in near future.

mc-21 is out there by irkut...technology cooperation between Iran and Russia or license production, if Russian. insists... that aircraft will be ready in near future.

MC-21 still uses American technology and needs US Treasury permission to export it. Also, recent problems with Russian engine means they delayed its production until 2021.

But if they can succeed in plans to rebuild it with fewer American parts and fix the problems then maybe it will be a good option, but I doubt this will happen before 2024...
