Any thing big will be sitting duck , so Iran's knows they need fast and small size attack force to disturb oil flow during any war
Large battle ships like you said will be useless as they are easy to destroy from air by US airforce. If you have 3000 or more speedboats armed with guided and unguided missile and rocket launcher then that is more lethal.
US will come in deep trouble if they start a naval conflict, they know it and that is why they are sitting and watching like a brave boy how we dominate the waters of the Persian Gulf and the straits of Hormuz

More like patiently watching you array your canoes so we can destroy them with as little ammunition as possible. Trying to go 'green' here. And we do not need to watch only from the air. You can bet your next centrifuge that there is at least one US sub lurking about that you cannot find and recording everything you do on the surface.

That might be a remarkable achievement but yet you are not match for US naval might . Iran should have brought some modern weapons from its friendly countries  and after that show case its might :)

Yup, except for the odds of a US sub falling into Iranian hands is infintesimal. So jack off to the drone, that is only as far as Iran is going to get.

Navy's Wargames Enter Tactical Phase

Fars News Agency :: Navy's Wargames Enter Tactical Phase
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Navy started the tactical phase of the military exercises underway in the international waters in the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean, a Navy commander said on Tuesday.

Iran's naval forces started massive wargames, dubbed as Velayat 90, in an area stretching from the East of the Strait of Hormoz in the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Aden on Saturday.

"After the accomplishment of the initial and expansion phases of Velayat 90, the tactical phase of the wargames was started this morning in the wargames general zone," Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Navy Admiral Seyed Mahmoud Moussavi said.

He added that Iranian naval forces exercised confrontation against chemical attacks of the hypothetical enemy as part of the plan to boost their defense power in modern warfare.

Moussavi, who is also spokesman of the wargames, said that Iranian navy vessels embarked on fortifying the country's coastal waters to prevent infiltration of hypothetical enemy vessels and submarines.

The commander noted that Iranian forces also conducted tests in electronic warfare field using modern home-made electronic jamming equipment to disrupt enemy radar and contact systems.

Iran stages several air, land and sea wargames each year to test its newly produced weapons and equipments.

Defense analysts and military observers say that Iran's wargames and its advancements in weapons production have proved as a deterrent factor, specially at a time of heightened threats by the US.

PressTV - Iran's major naval drill enters 6th day

Iran's Navy has launched the sixth day of a major naval drill covering an area stretching from the east of the strategic Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Aden.

The spokesman for Velayat 90 drill, Rear Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi said Thursday that the Iranian Navy's aircraft and helicopters will continue surveillance and reconnaissance operations during the day to monitor activities of all units in the area of the military exercises.

He also said that mock surprise attacks were scheduled for the sixth day of the drill to assess the readiness of participating units in the massive war games.

Rear Admiral Mousavi added that land-to-sea logistics exercises were also carried out on Thursday to rehearse backup operations for the naval units.

According to the spokesman for the naval drill, smoke-generating systems were tested as part of passive defense operations aimed at minimizing damage to critical areas in case of an aerial or missile strike.

Mousavi further said that mock aerial strikes were also carried out on some vessels, followed by a test of firing systems and tactics to confront such attacks.

During the sixth day of the drill, scuba divers practiced infiltration into a coast, using underwater demolition operations and with the help of flight units, he added.

Iran's Navy launched the massive 10-day Velayat 90 naval exercises on December 24.

On Monday, Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said the naval maneuver in the international waters is intended to convey a message of peace and friendship to the countries in the Middle East.

Over the recent years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The country has repeatedly made clear that its military might is merely based on the nation's defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries.
