Iran Summons Turkish Envoy over President Erdogan’s Comments

We can leave it at maybe then.

Pakistan can mediate between Turkey and Iran to clear out the misunderstandings.
I highly doubt that things between Turkey and Iran would deteriorate over this suddenly, but this will affect the long-term strategic friendship between Iran and Turkey negatively.

It shouldn't though

TEHRAN – The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Turkey’s ambassador in protest at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s “interventionist” comments during a recent visit to Baku, the ministry’s spokesperson said.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Friday that ambassador of Turkey to Tehran has been summoned over the “interventionist and unacceptable” remarks that Turkish President Erdogan has made during his visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Iranian Foreign Minister’s assistant and director general of Eurasia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Turkey’s ambassador to Tehran on Friday, December 11, 2020, to voice Iran’s strong protest against the Turkish president’s comments, Khatibzadeh added.

The envoy has been reminded that the Islamic Republic of Iran demands an immediate explanation from the Turkish government for the issue, the spokesman noted.
The Turkish ambassador has been also notified that “the era of territorial claims and warmongering and expansionist empires” has ended long ago, Khatibzadeh added.

“It was made clear to the Turkish ambassador that the Islamic Republic of Iran would not allow anybody to meddle in issues about its territorial integrity, and as its (Iran’s) glorious history testifies, it would not cede even an inch when it comes to its national security,” Khatibzadeh underlined.
His comments came after Turkish President Erdogan provoked controversy when he recited lines from a folk song that laments partitioning of the lands inhabited by Azeri people by the Aras river.
The border river of Aras separates northwestern Iranian territories from the Republic of Azerbaijan.

He should educate himself about history of that region.

What did Erdogan say?

Why are Iranis still obsessed with the empire that existed hundreds of years ago?

What did Erdogan say?
He talked about the victory of Azerbaijan against Armenia and said that new military and political victories are ahead.

In the same speech, he mentioned some geographic places in Iran like Sahand and Sabalan and recited a poem by an Iranian Azeri poet about the annexation of Azerbaijan by the Tsarist Russia and how they cannot remain separated.

He better first says prayer in Omavi mosque which he promised in 2012.

Ahh Erdogan... same lovely Erdogan that enriched his entire family for generations by selling Iranian oil through third parties. Only country in the Middle east that is still tolerating his corrupt a.ss is Iran. He should keep quiet.

I don't think Turkey will mess around with Iran. You're overacting.

Turkey is busy maneuvering in several Arab countries. Arabs do not care.

You made off it more then there was to it. They laid claim on Greece, Israel, Crimea, Yerevan etc etc parts Austria. If Turkey truly wanted territories inside Iran you would have known by now. Which suggests no. The Majority of their military campaigns were expansion into Europe. Austria, Hungry, Moldova, Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Greece etc etc Ottoman European lands.

During most of these campagins Safavid were Sunni Sultanate this is something Iranians don't know today. That they by inheritence are sunni until 1602 which is fairly recent and played major part in helping the Turks advance deep into Europe and the conquest of India

Who cares ? Turkey has a 30 milion iranic kurdish population as well. It can go both ways. Anyway, our enemy is not Turkey but Israel and US at the moment. So this one will die out most likely.

You should always overreact when the highest rank of a country talks about military aggression against your lands, even in allusion, particularly without provocation from you. That is not something that can be overlooked, even if we both agree that Turkey will not mess around with Iran.

The worst enemy anyone can have is a Turk. If they don't have interest in you they are better left alone. Just don't force Erdogan to laid legit claim now on Tehren
