Iran seizes Indian ship

Why else would Iranian seize an Indian ship? It really must be pollution the waters. Perhaps it sprung a leak or something. Why do Indians suspect foul play here?

Iran own India $5 bn for imported crude oil, and the latter kept holding on them taking sanctions as an excuse. But it offered Iran "unnecessary" home produced goods as a swap for the money.

It is not us who are withholding payments but Iran who has painted itself into such a situation that no financial institution want to touch them even with a barge pole.

Every country which is doing business with Iran is doing it on Barter which includes China too. There is nothing like India forcing Iran to buy Indian goods. They simple could not be paid in any other way. It is either this or rupee payments.

I feel like the old generation (the generation right after partition) did have have a lot of the traits the British people were admired for such cleanliness, discipline, and just running things in a proper manner. Don't know what happened to that.

Theres a reason why South Asia scores low in almost everything.

But is that perhaps a matter of giving a better education to the kids etc? because why in Kerala they have really high literacy rates and clear family planning which is not the norm in parts of North India/Pakistan?

That is a bizzaro reason, as seizing the ship won't change those facts. India scaled down due to sanctions.

Also, oil leaks can travel.

I would take anything the TOI reports on with a pinch of salt, better to wait for the official statement as this does seem rather bizarre this whole episode unless there is more to it than we know.

Don't talk nonsense. Makes you look silly. Have you even seen the map of the Middle East? This oil tanker was coming from Iraq and not going to Iraq, crossing Iran whilst sailing toward the strait of Hormuz leading to the Arabian Sea.

Now, Paying in Rupee is the good option for India because it can lift currency...Iran also knows that Rupee loss is just because of speculation not related to economy. They dont have any problem accepting Rupee..But India not completely ready to pay in rupee...

Iran surely would not capture ship from Iraq....Which helps selling re-branded iranian oil..probably india buying iranian oil with iraq brand. Iraq is the best frend of iran. Iran is very strict about border and captured many ships before. Nothing to fear i guess...why fighting here?

Unfortunately its the mouth piece of India. Soon the world will realize that India is a hysterical nation permanently in 'paranoid' mode. Pakistan has been saying that for decades that Indians have mastered the politics of victim-hood and is a text book example of passive aggressive. With rise of India many will get the taste of Indian resentment. Iranians should go read the TOI article, specifically the comments, for observing the Indian Psyche first hand.
