Tehran, Iran, Dec. 16

By Milad Fashtami - Trend:

The atmosphere of the nuclear talks is great, but the two sides still have long way to reach a comprehensive agreement.

"The two sides discussed several issues including sanctions imposed on Iran thoroughly," Deputy Foreign Minister in Legal and International Affairs of Iran Abbas Araqchi said, Iran's Fars News Agency reported on Dec. 16.

Araqchi made the remarks after a bilateral meeting with the US representatives.

"We will continue the talks in the evening, and a meeting between Iran and all the members of the P5+1 group of countries will be held on Wednesday," he said.

Araqchi and Deputy Foreign Minister in Europe and American Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi are heading Iranian delegation in this round of talks.

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman is the head of the US delegation.

In the last round of talks between Iran and Group 5+1 in Vienna, Austria, the two sides could not reach a final agreement, so the foreign ministers said they needed more time for a comprehensive agreement and extended the negotiations for more seven months and seven days.

According to some western media the remaining disagreement is on how remove the sanctions and about what to do with Arak reactor

Iran should not give up on its rights
lol Typical rishoo comment.

That's good though. On one hand I want things to get better, on the other hand I want things to get worse for you akhoonds. You think dollar at 3500 Toman, oil exports at record low levels, unemployment at record low levels, hyperinflation etc... are bad now? Let's give it 5-10 years. Dollar at 8000 toman, suitcase full of cash to buy daily bread, oil exports at 100,000 barrel/day (pretty much zero), country more broke than Zimbabwe etc... That's when revolutions start, akhoonds get decapitated in central squares, countries get balkanized and divided etc...

Personally I like the last scenario a lot. So keep going.

That's why many say that Ahmadinejad was a bliss

Akhoonds want the number of centrifuges to be increased to over 100K after the initial pause. The West wants the level to stay at half of current levels and all new installations to stop. There's the Arak issue and also Parchin. There are other issues as well. Your akhoonds aren't making it easy. Once Obama is gone, good luck trying to sit down and negotiate with the Republicans. Both the house and senate are now in the hands of the Republicans. After Obama, a Republican president is likely to come in power as well. Senate, House of Representatives and the presidential seat all in the hands of your worst nightmare. Either in the form of a complete military blockade or right out war, the republicans won't disappoint. American economy is also bouncing back so they've got the cash for another stupid war. You could be that stupid war/mistake, but ultimately the Iranian people will have to bare the misery. Americans will get into debt for a few years and pay it off a few years later.

Iran may import nuclear fuel, instead of producing it domestically

Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 17

By Umid Niayesh - Trend:

A senior Iranian official has made statements that the country may import nuclear fuel from abroad instead of producing it inside the country, the country’s YJC news agency reported Dec. 17.

If Iran can buy its needed enriched uranium at a price lower than the fuel produced inside, the country will certainly do that, Behrouz Kamalvandi, the spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said.

It is while some Iranian experts claim that the country's nuclear program is not economically justified at all and the issue has become more of a political "prestige".

While responding to a question about shipping uranium outside the country, and then receiving it as converted into fuel rods, the official said that “no uranium will exit from Iran.”

Early in November the New York Times reported that Iran has tentatively agreed to ship much of its huge stockpile of uranium to Russia if it reaches a broader nuclear deal with the West. The Islamic Republic immediately dismissed the issue, calling that media speculation.

Under the proposed agreement, the Russians would convert the uranium into specialized fuel rods for the Bushehr nuclear power plant, Iran’s only commercial reactor, according to The New York Times.

Commenting on the ongoing talks between Iran and the P5+1(the US, UK, France, Russia, China plus Germany), Kamalvandi said that certain progresses has been made in comparison with last year, however there are still some differences over political, technical and legal issues.

Iran and the P5+1 started the first round of nuclear talks after the extension of negotiation deadline on Dec. 17 on deputy foreign ministers level in Swiss city of Geneva. The Iranian diplomats also held bilateral meetings with the US and French delegations in the last two days.

Iran and the P5+1 group (the US, UK, France, Russia, China plus Germany) agreed to extend nuclear talks until July 1, 2015 after failing to meet the 24 Nov. deadline to reach a comprehensive nuclear agreement.

The sides also extended the Geneva nuclear deal, which was signed last November for providing Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Tehran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities.

The US and its west allies suspects Iran of developing a nuclear weapon - something that Iran denies. The Islamic Republic has on numerous occasions stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, using nuclear technology for electricity generation and medical purposes instead.

You seems not to understand the situation well Iran never said we need more than 100000 centrifuge by the end of confiden. we said we need 180000 su of enrichment power and it can be achieved by 180000 of ir1 centrifuge but it also can be achieved by around 8000 of ir8 centrifuges. So as you can see its a matter that we can easily solve and made everybody happy .
And by the way both party agreed the restrictions only belong to the confidence making period not after that .

The main impasse and biggest stumbling block seems to be over Iran's uranium enrichment capacity -- the maximum that the US would allow Tehran to keep reportedly is around 4,000 centrifuges, while Iran would like to keep all of its assembled 19,000 centrifuges, and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader, has been on the record and indicated that he would like to see Iran operate even 10 times of that number.

If i here Mr. Khamenei speech he never talked about the number of Centrifuge he talked about the capabilities of the centrifuge which is measured by SWU, Ir-1 has 1 SWU of centrifugal power Ir-8 is 24 time more powerful the person who wrote the article and wrote Mr. Khamenei said Iran need 10 time more centrifuge didn't understood his speech completely .

lol az roo ke nemirin shoma rishooa.

You claim you won't give up one iota of your "rights" and you go into the negotiations huffing and puffing. The other side tells you to go back to your cave and to come back when you're ready to negotiate. you come back, accept some of the demands, but again you huff and puff thinking you have a chance in hell. The other side tells you to go back to your cave once more. Now you're ready to give up even more, but to save yourself from embarrassment, you claim that you never wanted X number of centrifuges in the first place!! Whether through more advanced types or sheer quantity, it makes no difference if your goal was enrichment at a particular level.

Listen, you guys are inept. Been inept AT EVERYTHING you've done in 4 decades. If we add up the direct cost of the nuclear program and indirect costs (i.e. sanctions), the total cost would be in the trillions of dollars. What have you to show for your trillions of dollars? A barely functioning Soviet era reactor producing 1K measly megawatts of power and barely much more. Now you're so desperate that you're willing to give up even that. You're still talking and trying to save yourself from embarrassment. What planet do you live on that you think you've got any face left to try and save? Your head is down and everybody can see it, but you try your hardest to show a different face.

Your dear terrorist leader wanted a bomb, he failed. He wanted enrichment, he failed. He wanted reactors, he failed. He wanted national pride, he failed. He wanted to get something out of these negotiations, they told him to go back to his cave. Now he's trying to act like everything that's happening was always under his control and that they are winning in the talks. Zereshk. He's supreme alright. Supremely tokhmy at whatever he's tried to do.

Akhoonds want enrichment, but they ain't getting much beyond current levels. Deleto saboon nazan.

expected nothing more nothing less from you when you fail the argument .

go and read again what Obama said about Iran nuclear and missile program.
“If we could create an option in which Iran eliminated every single nut and bolt of their nuclear program, and foreswore the possibility of ever having a nuclear program, and, for that matter, got rid of all its military capabilities, I would take it, But that particular option is not available.

or you can look at this report and find this in the report
Given the country’s indigenous knowledge and expertise, the only long-term solution for assuring that Iran’s nuclear program remains purely peaceful is to find a mutually agreeable diplomatic solution,

Iran should not give up on its rights

No problem and we don´t give our right to sanction. In case you did not notice it was iran who crawls towards us and begs to lift the sanctions. One hand washs the other hand. If you have nothing to offer you should not expect a deal.
