its look like Army commanders didn't give green light to this project . maybe its need more time and more invesment to become proper tank that meet all of our army needs ...

so there is 3 option :
1- cancel the project and buy some tanks to cover our weakness in this field
2- buy some tanks from to cover some of weakness and continue this project in mean time
3- invest the intended money for buying tank in Zulfiqar project to achieve desired specifications ...

probable they choose option 2 or 3 and mostly 2 .... if Russians try to act like before , they will choose option 3

well ,one thing i have always wondered about zolfaqar is its weight , its about 1/3th of an Abram and we still have problem producing an engine with adequate power for it ,I wonder what will happen if we want to produce a tank as heavy as today MBTs , I wonder if its not the plane to abandon it completely, maybe they want to use both tank with each other, maybe they want t-90 as MBT and then they want to use zolfaqar as replacement of tanks like T72-z and such.

check your numbers again, Abrams M1A1 and Zolfagharar3 are very close in weight and speed.

or maybe they want to fill the empty spots (of the tanks which went to Iraq and Syria) with a modern tank and study it's technologies, while Zolfaghar production line becomes ready.

are you sure Wikipedia numbers are correct ? I have 40t from other sources and the tank looks smaller than Abram

its based on M60 , so it is not lighter than M60 and M60 wieght is : M60: 50.7 short tons (46.0 t; 45.3 long tons)
M60A1: 52 to 54 short tons (47 to 49 t; 46 to 48 long tons)

Good decision, however if it comes with TOT, Iranians can benefit alot, and improve their existing tanks !!!

در یک سیستم بودجه محور ، داستان رو بر اساس بودجه و اعتبار تحلیل کنید .

نه تی نودی وجود داره و نه ذوالفقاری ...

داستان اینه که سپاه قبلا و ناجا جدیدا به بهانه ی داعش ، کلی اعتبارات جذب کردند . ارتش هم برای اینکه سرش بی کلاه نمونه دنبال اینه که از نمد داعش یه کلاهی برای خودش دربیاره .نیروی هوایی زودتر شروع کرد و الان هم نوبت نیروزمینی شده . اگر واقعا قرار بر خرید بود شش ماه بعد از نهایی شدن خرید در جینز خبرشو میخوندیم و حضرتش انکار میفرمود .


تانک سپاه هم همون ذوالفقار هست که دارن پیشرانه ی تی نود رو به همراه باقی زیر سامانه های تی نود روش نصب میکنن . انشاء الله به زودی این هم رونمایی میشه و چندتا دریفت و شلیک و عکس و خداحافظ ! ایشون هم به باقی طرح های بایگانی شده خواهد پیوست وحتی چه بسا که بدون رونمایی هم به این درجه ی رفیع برسه ... و الله الموفق و هو المعین .

TEHRAN, Feb. 02 (MNA) – Iranian Ground Force Commander has announced that a hostage liberation exercise has been put on the agenda to be held in the city of Qom.

Commander of the Iranian Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan noted that the preliminary stages of the drill has been accomplished awaiting the finals approval of General Headquarters of Armed Forces.

The commander also noted the details of purchasing T90 tanks from Russia asserting “we have achieved a satisfactory level in domestic tank production alleviating the need for buying the equipment.”

“T90 tanks remain of one of Iran’s interests and the proposal was issued to the General Headquarters of Armed Forces,” continued the official stressing “in view of the current production capacity in the country, the purchase of T90 battle tanks has been removed from the agenda.”

Commander Pourdastan stated that the Iranian Ground Forces' massive wargame will soon begin concluding “a hostage liberation drill is also likely to be held in the Aliabad city of Qom province."
