Are you trying to imply that "Muslim" and "Persian" are essentially mutually exclusive types of entity/identity?

This thought process is very common in Pakistani's. They will tend to use the generic "Muslim" on for Muslims of South Asia. As if the only determinant is Muslim with these groups. However -

• Arab and Muslim
• Persian and Muslim
• Turkish and Muslim

will often place a national or ethnic qualification before the Muslim. For South Asians it's plain -

• Muslim
