TEHRAN, Nov. 05 (MNA) – In a ceremony on Thursday, President Hassan Rouhani inaugurated the first phase of a project to desalinate and transfer water from the Persian Gulf to the central areas of the country.

The first phase of the project is capable of desalinating and transferring around 200,000 cubic meters of water in 24 hours. The water will fulfill part of the needs of industries and residential areas in central and southeastern provinces.

According to Mohammad Javad Fadaei, governor of Kerman province, studies on the project started in 2013 and the physical project kicked off two years later. There are three main lines in this project that will eventually transfer some 600 million cubic meters of water from the Persian Gulf to Kerman, Yazd, and Hormozgan provinces every year.

President Hassan Rouhani delivered a speech in the ceremony, describing the water pipeline as the 'line of hope', noting that the project will boost industries and agriculture in arid central provinces.

He said the overall length of this giant water transfer line is about 800 kilometers, 305 kilometers of which is being inaugurated today.
According to Iranian Presidency's press service, power and energy supply and pumping and balance tanks and shock absorbers and the 45,000 cubic meter reservoir and water exploitation system of Sirjan Golgohar Industries were also inaugurated the first phase of the project
16.3 trillion tomans of credit have been spent on these projects and their employment capacity is 16,000 people for the construction period and 1,200 people for the operation period.

The large desalination project and water transmission line has been designed and implemented by the country's distinguished engineers, using the experiences of companies in the Persian Gulf, as well as the use of the best technical and technological options in the world.

Watching the video gives a good view of how massive this infrastructure project is....it started in 2013 ..so out of fairness we should give the credit to Rohhani team...too late for him to redeem himself but great for iran.

. . .
Will we ever have rulers with such foresight? They are too busy looting the country. Pakistani public has suspicious water to drink at best, and no water rest of the time.

I hope there are similar projects that get included in CPEC once it develops a little more. The Chinese are already experts in the area compared to the rest of the world due to their experience in South-North water transfer project. A smaller scale one for Pakistan would be ideal, perhaps even with desalination like Iran is doing.

Indeed a great mega-project we saw coming to fruition. Moreover, this is just the first phase and it already looks promising. I hope the current and future government of Iran will span such projects throughout the country to help reduce the water crisis.

With some more of this desalination plants Iran can supply the eastern provinces and even can begin to plant trees there.
If they utilize the Miyawaki method, entire forests can be replenished in less than a generation which in turn will lead to better water, land, wild life conservation down the line.

Most of you don't realize the importance of this project and the nature of this. It is a revolution, with great R, not less.
Too many western countries are reluctant to install this kind of infrastructure on the African continent. They fear two things -meanwhile they continuously claim human rights- first thanks to the water you can fertilize the desert. Hence you can produce tomatoes, potatoes, etc...it will be a threat to western's capitalist dominance. They propose it but at a high price, unaffordable for most African countries.
Moreover, if African countries develop their Agriculture areas, there will be a high rate of birth,. For example in Mali then from 20 million hab, in 2040 they will pass to 50 million, and they can feed the population with water.
With this revolution, Iran will force Westerners to show their true faces. Moreover, countries like Egypt were reluctant to leave the West's dominance, because they fear the lack of water. With this revolution, U will see more and more countries to break the Westerner's dominance.

Most of you don't realize how this technology is more than the revolution, it is a weapon better than nuclear weapons.
